Thank you Rudi. Nice finds.
G-6, for sure shot at München-Oberwiesenfeld, part of Stkz: "E". Already known machine through old auction(s).

Btw, from old auction, January 2017.

Nick,

Thanks for your input. All the other photos of this seller's batch sale being definitely taken at München-Oberwiesenfeld, there is a fair chance this Ju 87 D was also taken there.

Cheers

Useless input as it turns out! You're quite right Marc, I put the image through Photoshop and the unit code is D3 = NSGr. 2 (they used a white unit code, rather than the usual black). The last location I have for NSGr. 2 is "Brunnenthal" on 25 April 1945 with 26 (12) aircraft.

Brunnethal is in Austria and isn't on the indispensable DeZeng/Stankey list, so I think it was probably Brunnthal south of Munich.

P.S. Interesting camouflage too, a pattern of large blotches by the look of it.

I believe I have seen the large tower in post # 2401 before. Does that help to confirm the location?

Another view of that G-6/R6 at Oberwiesenfeld ...
Expired auction.
Hence the 3/4 front view image is clearly not this machine.

The Ju 87 discussed earlier is coded D3+DL, so from 3./NSGr.2, and yes, it was also found at Oberwiesenfeld

And this one also, which came up in 2007 (according to the date I saved it). You can just make out the vertical part of the L, I think.

There was an earlier D3+DL, lost on 7 October 1944 (Ju 87 D-5, W.Nr. 131584) but that one was 98% damaged.

hi,

another photo of "white e" was published in jet & prop photo archive no 6. it says that the photo was taken at ebendorf...

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thanks Jim, I knew I have seen this one before :) I think this is even a G-6 variant, by the way. In the J&P photo you can see the G-style tailplane (as well as another plane of apparently the same unit, coded "A"). I think this might be one the few night-fighters used as ground-attack airplanes in the last weeks of the war. A rare bird indeed.

But I am puzzled as to the location of "Ebendorf". There was no german air base with this name. There is an Ebendorf west of Magdeburg, but this is not close to any known Fliegerhorst. Can someone shed any light on this?

Ebendorf-Seenwalde, currently Piasutno, Poland. Strange that a GI would have had photos from that location in 1945, they never went that far East...

Any other possibility around Ebendorf ?

Cheers
Marc

At the bottom of page 69 of the same book there's a Ju 88 S with a GI posing in front, again captioned as Ebendorf. If you look behind his shoulder (and under the fuselage) then E is in the background there too.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello Nick,

to the photo on page 69 with the GI posing in front of a Ju 88 S taken at Ebendorf near Magdeburg:
First amendment in Jet&Prop FA 7: Ju 88 T-3, this is a fairly rare example powered by Jumo 213s and not by Jumo 211s. Seeing no bomb sight housing appears below the nose, it must be the reconnaissance version.
Second amendment in Jet&Prop FA 8: The Ju 88 S-3 was equipped with Jumo 213 A-1 engines.

Regards
Leo

G-10. 2./NAGr.14. '5F+12'. WNr.770269. Fürth, 8 Mai 1945. Known pictures from an old historical.media.com auction ... But better here.
The other machine is a G-6 from 4./JG104 Blaue 479. Same comment, same old auction ...

Franck.

Hi everyone,
Did anyone manage to obtain this pic to guard it for posterity?
Just curious.
Kind regards,

Thank you Rudi,
very interesting is the Ju 88 G-6, "White A". Camouflage and markings look the same as "White E" sold some days ago. Maybe from the same Geschwader? Although the photograph has a bad quality you can see the ETC's at the bottom of te wings.

With the latest find, I think we can now identify the location: it was not "Ebendorf", but Dedelstorf. Walter Bohatsch's Me 262 'White 4' was found at Dedelstorf.
