Hi there Rudi,

The wrecks are the poor remains of Ju 88 G-6's scrapped at Brunnthal.

Your second Bf 109 is an Mtt built Bf 109 G-14/AS, with the six line long stencilled writing on the engine cowling. One day, one of the veteran shots will be sharp enough to be able to read at last its content, still unknown as of today ;)


As for the jet engines, they seem to be Jumo 004's (?). The tail unit is of the late war type commonly used on all Bf 109 G-10, G-14 or K-4.

And here for some new and highly interesting pictures shot along the Hofoldinger Forst, Munich-Salzburg Autobahn, the day when this area was overrun by the 3d US Infantry Division, 30 April 1945, as ascertained by the snowfall which happened 29-30 April 1945:

Most of the machines are still camouflaged by cut down trees, one Bf 110 G-4 and one Ju 88 G-6 being recognisable.

- finding this new gem (different a/c): we have here a rare global view of Gardermoen in May 1945, after the german surrender. in the centre, you have this lone Bf 109 G-8 of NAGr. 32. It is either W.Nr. W.Nr. 200 254 or 201 805. Four other pictures are known from NAGr. 32 machines, mainly of probably W.Nr. 201 544 :

Yes,thanks. Gardermoen is todays "Oslo Airport". Fortunately I have already got list of Ju 188 and 88s surrendered there, some with odd (read= wrong) numbers, where 5xxx Fuselage numbers from Ju 188 A-3 are said Ju 88 A-17. Codes to serials are very slowly coming to light. Unfortunately nothing can be gleaned from these.

#647 xx+Jx apears rare Ju 88 C-2/4 (VDM props) but shows trace of radar nose (or ex nose cap from C-6 Li one)
and possibly Armour Windsheld from C-6 too.

Some time ago I wrote of no Ju 88 C-6 prototype. I failed notice that one Ju 88 C-4 was tested with Jumo 211 J (for C-6 / Night Fighter) 1941
but if prototype V number was assigned, it may have been the Ju 88 V35 W.Nr. 0880395 PL+TM , that also later got Jumo 213 A-1 engines...
