Hi
#248 (2) : the well known P8500 lost on 6/7/1941 (n°616 sqdn) . "Close to Gravelines" was the possible place but with the caption " Le Clipon" (north of Loon-plage) we can limite the area. Bertrand |

Is this one of the all black intruder Hurricanes? No roundels on the top wings? If so, why no cannons? I actually initially dismissed it as pretty uninteresting. Hopefully someone can make a bit more out of it than me....:o Cheers Stig |

Z4841 was used by one single operational squadron, 237, which never was in Europe (Italy) until 1944. Z4841 caught fire in the air and was abandoned 22 Nov 1941, the same day the unit officially moved to LG 128 in North Africa Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hmmm. What about Z4941?

It seems that aircraft (a Hurricane IIB) was basically at Malta all its life and was even for a short while with a Royal Navy Fleet Requirements Unit on the Island. It was SOC on 30 June 1945. Not quite what, at least I feel, the photo shows. I think we need to identify where in Europe this is and why it is sold on the German e-bay. Coming from a German album perhaps? I can't even locate any seller :o .... Also is really an all black Hurricane and which Mark is it? I am lousy on Hurricanes myself Cheers Stig |

But I question the caption that it is a Mk IIb. The 2 outer guns on each wing should be clearly visible, but they're not. So, were they removed in the field and the openings faired over? My production list says Z4941 was a Mk IIa, which would match what I see in the photo. Cheers Peter |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Yes you are correct, this Hurricane was built as a Mk IIa and later converted to Mk IIb standard. No date is given unfortunately. Reasonably the accident visible was then before the conversion? Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
More probably Boulogne-sur-Mer, but the airfield of this town, Boulogne-Alprecht was mainly a Navy place, and not a place with woods as on the photo. But it could be elsewre in the area...

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi,
yes it is TP Z. Attachment 16884 More probably in the area of Norrent-Fontes/Rely/Auchy au Bois rather than Boulogne-Alprecht Bertrand |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Scrapped Allied planes turned over to the French after Normandy. I wonder if the French hold any records about this.
