Looks like F-AODP but it certainly is no Caudron 640.... Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
It is a DH 60 possible G Type - and the reg is F-AODP. I have no further details as to identity but the De Havilland expert Malcolm Fillmore might be able to.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Thanks Tom
F-AODP is listed as a Caudron 640 on the French civil register. I have checked Malcolm's DH-60 data, no F-AODP in it, not even as an unidentified one. Cheers Stig |

Hello,
DH 82A Tiger Moth. (c/n. 1993) G-ACPS/F-AQDP - DeH Technical School built. http://airhistory.org.uk/dh/_DH%20fu...odn%20list.txt C of R No.5429 - F-AQDP - DH 82A Tiger Moth - c/n.1993 - Aero Club de France/Paris. http://airhistory.org.uk/gy/CoR-France.txt Col. |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Thanks Col
I checked F-AQDP as well, but the problem is I don't see much of a DH-82 in there. While the upper wing pair seems to have a slight sweep back, the lower wing pair seems very straight to me. But again I am incredibly lousy at identifying wrecks, so I have to consider it as a possibility. BTW I have asked Malcolm for his opinion. Thanks again Col, I always appreciate your opinions Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Col was spot on
Malcolm confirms this is the Tiger Moth F-AQDP Cheers Stig |

a trip from Visby to Halmstad, or so it says on the back side. I suppose there is nowhere else to put it then here but perhaps an off topic flag would have been OK? :) As usual the seller is way off in his description of the photo..... Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Must be finger trouble from Alex
AB799 seems spot on to me. Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
I don't think there is any doubt from the photo that the code was KH-U.
The ORB is again in error. It lists Sgt Hunt as flying twice on 2 June: AA979 up 0625 AR439 up 1000 AR439 was not delivered to the sqn until the following day, being lost on 19 August 1942. I can only assume that it was the next wearer of code KH-U (a common problem encountered with ORBs). |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi Stig,
Not finger trouble this time :) But The code to me looks like either - KH ⊙ U OR KH⊙D Serial number AB799, just looked like AD to me BUT it couldn't be as AD799 was a Hampden :) Alex |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Stig, Alex, AndyMa - I have more examples, when we have typo - U and J is close to the keyboard and maybe this is the reason.
Have a nice day and enjoy the research :-) Faenor |

GB-X is P2190 of 105 Sqn
F is L5436 of 142 Sqn - the QT part of the code was only worn on one side. |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
It would be interesting to know what actually happened to this aircraft.
It was Permanently Struck Off Charge (PSOC) on 1 Jan 47, which usually shows paperwork catching up with events long afterwards. Has anyone accessed the 112 Sqn ORBs for 1942 to see if they offer any clues? |
