#2809 clearly shows the third main landing gear strut for the long fuselage mistels.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Post #2817—Of the numerous photos of this aircraft, Bf 110 G-4 night fighter coded G9+BT, any showing the WNr. are “iffy” at best, leaving, in my opinion, 160535 or 180535 as equally valid options.
I have NJG1 aircraft from both Werknummer blocks: 25 in the 160xxx series and 27 in the 180xxx series. Interestingly, only four are found in the 1605xx range, while eleven are from the 1805xx range. Because there are more found in the 180xxx series, I provisionally assumed that G9+BT was WNr. 180535. Hopefully, someone has conclusive proof of one or the other Werknummer. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
In the description on eBay the seller states that the WNr is 180535. I presume he had a good look at the negative before he wrote this.

Hmmm beware of "original". 17x12 pictures ? A collector's photo album, but not that old. |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
That's as maybe but if you're interested in French aircraft, this album seems a reasonable buy as do a couple of the seller's other 'albums'.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I have noticed some albums over the years that contain a mix of actual period photos, postcards, and period leftovers. These leftovers can be tricky and involve different photos at different sizes, incorrect border trimming and other telltale signs that may indicate later prints, fraudulent copies and 'photos that won't sell' otherwise, or so some unscrupulous sellers believe. There is a book titled "Spotting the Fakes" for small German military items but nothing I'm aware of that covers individual photos and photo albums. There is no substitute for research and becoming aware of the differences between photos listed as AK (Ansichtskarte or picture postcard) - a ton on Ebay Germany right now, and the real thing, meaning period personal photos.

Re: album with french planes
Steve,
Thanks for the pointer. Most of the photos in this album show Bloch 152 of the french fighter group II/9 (1940/1942). All theses photos were taken by George Lepage who was one of the pilot of this unit. To all probability the albums photos prints where made from his original negatives. Best regards Rémi |

Rudi
First of all a great thanks for discovering these French albums. However, your latest catch, does not cover any captured German aircraft. I bet all of the German designed aircraft shown are actually licence built in France after liberation in 1944. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :) Stig |
