... yes, an 3 and an 6 ... I see not more ...

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Sorry Neil, the picture extends to the right - at least the copy in line at Marc's - and a 2 is clearly visible.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Franck
..here's the rear side view quite large - after that the photo becomes too pixelated. Only the '3' and the '6' are clear enough to actually read - anything else is guess work IMHO http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/p...d8siderear.jpg |

Not same picture ...

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Indeed, not the same picture, but the same machine..
On another note, anybody got ideas as to where and which unit the WNF built Bf 109 G-10 belonged to?. Given its white outlined numerals, I suggest a NAGr, without being sure of it... http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream Thanks for your inputs Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Marc,
I believe that the photo you attached of an Fw190 and Bf109G-10 13+ - Black was taken at Neubiberg. I’m going out on a limb here, but my research suggests that 13+ - was one of two Erla-built Bf109G-10s last serving with JGr.300 and surrendered there. The other example is 6+ - Yellow (outlined in black), which clearly sports that unit’s blue/white/blue RV bands and short black II.Gruppe bar. In the photos I have of 10+ - Black, its black II.Gruppe bar is apparent, while its blue/white/blue RV bands are indistinct. I chalk this up to the fact that the blue/white/blue RV bands were not particularly high contrast to begin with, and that by the time the photo was taken in 1946, the aircraft has sat outside for over one year. JGr.300 or not, they are almost certainly not from II./JG52. Without exception, II./JG52 Bf109s featured small black, white or yellow numerals and short II.Gruppe bars. Steve Sheflin |
