Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
According to the seller these are captured planes but I have some doubts.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Rudi
With regard to the so called captured Go 242, it seems only two recorded aircraft (one to Britain and the other to USA) are known. Details of their origin is scanty to say the least, but both seems to have been captured before the end of the war. However there is another photo of the same Go 242 (no other aircraft visible around), but having the same flat landscape around it. One individual visible who may well be Allied can also be seen. With regard to your "Siebels" they are most likely French post war production, and that goes for all "German" aircraft in the post war French photo albums now being sold on e-bay. Cheers Stig |

The two other a/c in the Go 242 photo carry a yellow theatre band so it looks that this photo was taken on the eastern front. |

Did anyone see a good close up of that emblem on the nose? |

Since I don't believe the Go 242 was used on the Western Front, and during the ever shrinking area controlled by the III Reich such theater markings probably meant very little by April/May 1945. Cheers Stig |

Good question Maciej. Looks like an Egyptian symbol of Horus and if so, the upper left corner must represent the Vulture goddess Mut (Mwt) "Mother". Regards, Franck. |
