Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Hi there Gang,

I just uploaded on my Flickr account 35 pictures of at least four different Bf109G-6, captured by US forces at Pachino-Scordia, Sicily, after 13 July 1943. All were found on the 57FG website (www.57thfigthergroup.org). The 57 Fighter Group claimed six Bf109G-6, refurbished them and used them quite extensively for joy-rides; at least one of them was transformed as a two seater and all were quite heavily used before falling into disrepair. The surviving machines were flown to Foggia-Amendola on 27 October 1943 as the 57FG moved there, and the last one was burnt on purpose on 1 March 1944 as 57FG moved to Naples.

Planes with German identities are:

1. Erla built Bf109G-6 W.Nr. unknown "Gelbe1" (?), 6./JG53, found at Pachino, Sicily, Summer 1943. Source: Collection Bob Hanning, 57thfigthergroup.org.

2. WNF (?) built Bf109G-6/R6 W.Nr. 20 ... "Schwarzer Winkel Kleine 4", Stab JG53, Comiso (?), July 1943. Source: 57thfightergroup.org.

Check please also the Comiso file, as there might be mistakes as to where which plane was effectively captured. Looking forward for any further details enabling to positively ID all those machines.

Thanks in advance
Marc

Just found two great Bf 109 G-5 pics. Could they be NJGr. 10 machines?

Thank you my dear,

Yes, True Bf109G-5s.
Roughly and fast guess ... JG3.
After that we have to go around an check for it... as usual.
And Bad-Wörishofen.

This is not a speculation but a start to think about those pictures. Nothing more; just say to force the brains ...

Exceptionnal, indeed.

Regards, Franck.

Thanks Franck!

According to Erich, those are actually 1./JG 300 planes at Bonn-Hangelar, late 1943 or early 1944. He has convincing arguments especially about the spinner lone white ring, this being the 1./JG 300 sign.

Check also the same seller, he has four more 1./JG 300 shots, all very fine crisp.

Cheers
Marc

Hey,

Interesting on many aspects!
1/ What does God think? :)
2/ Erich argument is very interesting concerning "spinner lone white ring".

This is exactly a tip pointed and developed by Bobo months - if not years - ago. Tip I pointed you in your Flickr page during last two months.
here:
http://www.jg300.de/rote-und-gelbe-ziffern.html

So:
1/ do we continue to kowtow?
2/ Do we continue to be insulted?
3/ Do we expect next god's publication and updates?

4/ Or, do we continue to be adult doing a real research, full of questions with few answers, as we started ... years ago.

Personally I chose point 4! But you know it already.
That's the reason you must continue your Flickr page.... No?

Bises, Franck.

PS; I must admit I'm not very diplomat sometimes.
