#3 is a Belgian Fairey Fox (as painted on the tail) not a Czech Avia B534 as the seller seems to think...

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Indeed Andy
I wonder if some sellers even look at the photos they sell? The type is very clearly written on the aeroplane itself. If we can read it, so can he! Cheers Stig |

Hi all,
Poland September 1939 or late during 1941? https://www.ebay.de/itm/365322865446...8AAOSwln5neRMr https://www.ebay.de/itm/365322864517...MAAOSw6m1neRK8 Faenor |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Tricky Faenor but interesting
Since Russia invaded Poland as well in 1939 they could have had a few aircraft force landing on German territory up to 1941. Did they have any bases on Polish soil during this period? No idea, but quite likely. That in turn means when starting their Barbarossa campaign aircraft must have been left behind. Anyone with real knowledge who wants to take a crack? Ed (and other) Your photo here is quite interesting https://www.ebay.de/itm/267116276066...Bk9SR8zot4OHZQ The aircraft is a Farman 451 Moustique and almost 100% it is the former F-APKH There was a photo on e-bay a long time ago showing the same aircraft in French markings just after capture. Cheers from a snowed in member who is lucky to be retired Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi
Yes it is the same of GB 1/12 lost on 14 may 1940 Two more photos are in the book Lioré et Olivier - Leo 45 - Tome I : Le LeO 451 (Meunier) page 144. Bertrand |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
What is interesting Bertrand is that this "carcasse" gets "eaten" more and more...
What did they do with such remains? I can't really see troops carrying around scrap metal:confused: Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Thank you Bertrand for conformation :-)

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hello,
As far as I can find, Beaufort I, L9957 . Photo in post number3277 . AIR Britain just has a short note - "10th October 1941to SAAF". However "85 Years of SAAF" has for L9957 - SAAF Serial -758. Delivery date 24/11/41. Engine failure North of Brooklyn, f/landed 27/02/42. Repaired. Crashed in Tanzania during ferry flight to RAF in India 05.03.44. Used probably by the Coastal Squadrons of SAAF, 32,33,34,36,37 or 16 or 20, SAAF in Madagascar ? As the photo shows the old RAF serial number maybe she never had the SAAF serial number applied . Or if following the 1942 repair she received the SAAF number. In which case the photo is of the February 42 forced landing . Then again would full RAF markings have been applied for her flight to India ? Alex |
