B-17F 42-3559 FR-J "Stardust" (from Kimbolton) MIA on Mission 145 to Solingen industrial areas (the secondary target) Dec. 1 1943. MACR 1333. One of the first Fs with chin turret, in Block F-75-DL (42-3504--42-3562). Nick |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Thanks Nick. Now I have a better idea of when the chin turret was introduced.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Ed. The B-17Fs in Block F-75-DL with turrets were re-designated as G-5-DLs. The turret was introduced in the previous Block, F-70-DL (42-3483-42-3503); 42-3483 was "Chopstick A-Able" and photographed with nose turret. They were designated G-1-DLs.
The last Vega Fs ( Block F-50) no turrets; the last Boeing Fs (Block F-130) no turrets unless retro-fitted. Based on photos. Nick |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Much appreciated Nick.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Ed. This is the kangaroo I mentioned which is supposedly on the left side but I don't know for sure; the DTD numbers are there, and the EDSG-white camo.
