searching for pictures or information about Jagdgruppe Ost
Dear all,
I am trying to write a short story of the Training unit "Jagdgruppe Ost", which was based in the South West of France, between 1942 and 1944. I believe it flew exclusively with FW190A and I am particularly interested by the period when it flew from Toulouse Blagnac. It appears that this unit did not trigger much interest from the magazines or the writers, except maybe the aircraft of Hermann Graff which was very colored; Any picture, event, story will be welcome. Thanks for your help ! Gilles |
Re: searching for pictures or information about Jagdgruppe Ost
Hello Gilles,
One of their fellows felt on the 15/01/43 near the the Belgium-France border during a transfer flight... I have the yellow wing tip of this Bf 109 F-2, an 'old' aircraft which had flown at the Ost front. Best regards |

"Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe 1935-1945: Fliegerwaffenschulen und Ergänzungsgruppen " von Sven Carlsen und Michael Meyer.2000 Heinz Nickel Verlag. I will look for the book this evening. Greetings Lino |

Re: searching for pictures or information about Jagdgruppe Ost
Although incomplete, the first NVM I have for Erg Jagdgruppe Ost is 2 Sep 42 when they were at Gleiwitz flying a mix of FW 58 and Bf 109s. It would then appear they move to Krakau in Sep 42 and their first casualty in France was a ground crew man at St Jean d'Angely 5 Oct 42. First ac casualty was at Bussac-Foret 15 Oct 42 after which losses appear to be at St Jean or Bussac with Bf 109s. First FW 190 casualty appears to be 8 Dec 42 at Bussac but majority still appear to be Bf 109 losses but FW 190s seem to take over in Jan 43

Re: searching for pictures or information about Jagdgruppe Ost
Hello Gilles,
I got already the loss details about Kupfer. He flew a F-2 according the wing tip label. |
Re: searching for pictures or information about Jagdgruppe Ost
Hello,
effectively this plane was already involved in an accident before as a Bf 109 F-2 (JG 51). Upgraded? Maybe, does it mean they changed the wing label? I have no answer, but I wonder why should they do. Gilles one good stuff here: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...t=18036&page=2 :p. I have some pictures reputed taken in St. Jean d'Angely (Bf109Fs) but eBay - without antifuchs - and quite small. A+ Franck. |
Re: searching for pictures or information about Jagdgruppe Ost
Or they repaired the damaged wing(s) with older parts... who knows...
