8/KG30

Afternoon

Anyone know who was Staffelkapitan of 8/KG30 in January 1941?

Also I have the Gruppenkommandeure as Hauptmann Arved Crüger but other sources give it as Hauptmann Schumann.

Can anyone assist along with service dates, etc?

Cheers

James

Crüger was Gr Kdr until replaced by Herrmann in Aug 41. From memory, I have Gerhard Metzenthin as St Kap on 8/KG 30 but from when, I would have to dig deeper

Oblt Dietrich Marwitz was St Kap until 27 Oct 40 and I have Metzenthin as being St Kap in Sicily in 1941. If I have time, I will look for more but hope that someone might be able to add something more in the interim

I have Oblt. Dietrich Marwitz (Ju88A-1; 5J+HS; wnr. 6048; 8./KG4) lost to AA fire off Yorkshire coast (possibly off Redcar) on 28 October 1940.

From a previous strand I can see that Gerhard Metzenthin was part of Staka 2./Erg.KGr. 6 between 01.11.40 and 20.03.41

Bill

By 27 Oct 40, III/KG 4 had become III/KG 30 & the NVM says Marwitz was St Kap of 8/KG 30 lost 27 Oct 40. Confirms his ac was marked 5K+HS and they presumed he was lost around the Humber Estuary

James

Agree that is what it says but we are trying to find out if there was another St Kap in between or not

Yes-5J. Just been writing about 7/KG 3 and the J is next to the K on the keyboard!
