Il-2 Sturmovnik
Is it posible on base this number agree more details ?
For sure this is Il-2: http://gdansk.naszemiasto.pl/artykul...id,tm,zid.html |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
Yes, this was probably IL-2 No.1876469
(The 64th plane of the 69th batch from Factory No.18., a two seater version = 7) where 6469 was the "real" serial number of the plane. Painting on the factory info while the plane was still standing in the factory would have been senseless ;-))))) Many soviet regiments used only this "short version" in their papers (only the batch and the plane ID) of the IL-2 serial numbers without the "factory part". Cheers, Gabor |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
So on base this number we can agree pilot/crew name(s) and unit ?
Thanks for above answer. |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
Yes. This serial number must be listed in the loss records (for Poland), identifying the crew, the date and the unit. Probably the AM-38F engine serial number will be mentioned there too.

Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
Kris,
http://gdansk.naszemiasto.pl/artykul...id,tm,zid.html What is written? hard to see. Not only 1876469, but and may be 1886469 (plant 18 tipe 8 for 1944-45), or 306469 (plant 30), or it's plant 1 (only 6469) Regards, Kirill |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
This IL-2 -based on location- probably belonged to the 4 VA. On October 1, 1944 there was no such IL-2 assigned to this VA as "6469". (Neither 1876469, 6469, nor 306469.)
For Factory 1. "6469" was a too early production, for factory no. 18. 1886469 would be a waaaaaaaay too high serial number. For Factory 1. a "99xx", for factory 18. an "188xx03" or so would be reasonable. Other option would be like 188xx115, or 187xxxxx, but not this high... Also, it can be a re-used, spare part on a newer plane for which the S/N is still not recovered. Cheers, Gabor |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
Sorry Кириль,
I also can not to read but here is also some text on the amored part of shell Il-2: http://gdansk.naszemiasto.pl/artykul...id,tm,zid.html Yes it could be from 4 BA ;) or 16 BA ? (Crew - 2 person: pilot and gunner) Kris |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
Yes, I jumped versions.
188-type had a higher series at the end of 1944 (the numbering was continuous 187-188). Plant №30 in late 1944 in units were 40s-50s series. Plant №1 at the end of 1944 were already at 90-100 series. So this is either 1876469 (quite old Il-2), or it 306469 - new 1945 Il-2 factory 30 (don't know was it's, but plant №30 produced 8865 planes) regards, Kirill |
Re: Il-2 Sturmovnik
Yep, from Factory No.1 (in the winter of 1944-45) many IL-2s with 8xxx serial numbers were still in service. But 6xxx was too old production for here.
From Factory No.30, eg. IL-2, S/N: 306132 was lost on November 15, 1944. In 1944-1945 many IL-2s with S/N: 303xxx-308xxx were still in service, so No.306469 would be another candidate, especially, because -generally speaking- due to logistics, etc., Factory No.30 delivered IL-2s mainly to the Northern fronts. Factory No.1 delivered planes rather to the South, while Factory No.18 delivered ~everywhere (regardless of the few exceptions). From Factory No.18 IL-2s, like 1870169, 1872471, 1878771 were lost in late 1944-1945, ~mainly from the 71st batch. (But batch No.69 is still reasonable.) Briefly: IL-2, S/N: 1876469 and 306469 are the good candidates here, but none of these planes were in 4 VA service -at least- by October 1, 1944. (I have no info in 1945 or on the 16 VA.) Cheers, Gabor |
