Fw Rhode 1./JG 2
 

This pilot was on 1./JG 2 in 1942 but I have no victories or information. His name is also spelt Rohde-is he the same as the Fhr Rudolf Rhode killed 15 Jan 45?

Impossible, because Fhr Rudolf Rohde (killed 15 Jan 1945) was born in May 1925.

Thanks Matti. My Rhode had the Frontflugspange by 1942 so as you say impossible

the "Rhode" you mentioned in 1./JG2 is actually Hermann Rohne. It was just misspelled in some photos.

Fred: Thanks for this. I can blame the late Willi Morzinek for that! He also names a Fw Fröschl (not the 10/JG 2 one) but cannot find him as well

I can find only one Fw Fröschl:

1942-07-02, 3./Stuka-Schule 2, Ju 87 B-1, 277, 6G+HP, Bombenabwurfplatz Haslach
Flugzeugführer Fw Fröschl, Hermann, +
Absturz infolge Bedienungsfehler. Bruch 100 %.

Thanks Matti. He was a trained fighter pilot on 1./JG 2 by this time so unlikely to be him. Another error was a Uffz Brändle which was in fact Uffz Martin Brendel

Fred: It is OK apart from Fröschl. Of course, Rohne was then killed with 10./JG 2

Martin Brendel is not on the photo...
