Luftwaffe shipping claims Mediterranean sea

I am working on Luftwaffe operations (particularly from the point of view of KG 30) against ships and convoys in the Mediterranean (Operation Torch, Husky and Anzio-Nettuno). Is there a record of Allied ship losses in the Mediterranean during this period? Are and documents from the Royal Navy documenting these losses? From the little info I could find online, there seems to be a big discrepancy between the Luftwaffe's claims and the number of ships actually damaged or sunk.

Any hint would be appreciated.

Peter, good morning.

A book about KG 30 would be really wonderful....Wish you will be successfull.
Have you passed your eyes through this:
https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ails/r/C387330
https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...etails/r/C1908
https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...e/r/r/C573281?

I believe the Files are there at TNA...one just need to know how and where to find them. There may be more, of course and I do hope someone with more expertise will be of assistance.

Wish all the success the project deserves and wish to be able to read KG 30 History one day from you.

6. Records in other archives
Lloyds Marine Collection
The Lloyd’s Marine Collection is a major source of information about merchant shipping losses, based at the Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury, London EC 2. Details of the collection are published in D. T Barraskill’s “A Guide to the Lloyd’s Marine Collection and Related Marine Sources” at Guildhall Library (London, 1994), which includes records of official inquiries and a list of further sources of information about marine losses.

The records of the Trade Division of the Naval Staff, contain much material on the losses of individual merchant ships. The records can be searched as follows:

Records from 1939-1945 in ADM 199/2073 – ADM 199/2194
Interviews with survivors in ADM 199/2130 – ADM 199/2148
Convoy lists in ADM 199/2184 – ADM 199/2194
Information about merchant shipping lossesin the First World War in ADM 137

Peter I have a copy of an Admiralty listing of British Merchant Vessels Lost or Damaged by Enemy Action in WW2 published in 1947 by HM Staionary Office . There are 3 pages covering the period you indicate but the lists are not specific to the Med.and showing a loss either as a named location or by co-ordinates . If you think this may be of help to you PM an e-mail address and I will send copies

You can say that again! Some useful sources online:
The Admiralty War Diaires are available at www.fold3.com (and I think elsewhere)

ConvoyWeb usually offers a ship-by-ship listing for each convoy.

For locations and images of sunken ships: https://www.wrecksite.eu
At the National Archives:
AIR 23/1470: Royal Navy Mediterranean Station War Diary (February 1944–March 1945)
AIR 23/3309: Reports on Enemy Air Attacks (1943–44)
AIR23/5738: AHQ Malta (Air Intelligence), Enemy Attacks on Allied Convoys — Mediterranean (1943–44)
AIR 51/32/158: Attack on Convoy ‘Element’, 11 May 1944
