Does anyone know who was the Sta Kap of 7./KG 51 during the fall of 1939, particularly during the Polish Campaign?

Hi Larry,
could either be Maj. Schroeder or Hptm. Poetter. Not sure about exact timr frames they served as Staka.

Had a quick look in the KG 51 book which shows Hpt. Joachim Poetter awarded RK 16-4-1942 while serving with I/KG 77,

If it helps, I can confirm who was St Kap on 12 Aug 40 as I have the KTB entry for this day

As of 12 Aug 40, Gr Kdr Maj Marienfeld, St Kap 7 Hptm Poetter, St Kap 8 Hptm Von Schenck, St Kap 9 Hptm Brandt. Work it back but I believe Poetter is your man

Appreciate your time to research this for me. What's behind my question, is I'm trying to code into the EOE data base a photo that I think is the StaKap's a/c about the time of the Polish Campaign. Wanted to get the ID of the crew if I could. This definitely helps. Chris I'll be in touch shortly about my upcoming trip to Europe.

Poetter's ac on 12 Aug was 9K+AR so it would appear he liked to fly A's but this is no guarantee-Marienfeld flew ED and Von Schenk KS-AD & AS were flown by other crews

Just to confirm the name of the Staka of 8. was really Schenk von Schweinsberg not just von Schenk correct?

There is a photo of Poetter as St.Kap 7/51 at the beginning of the book (circa1939/40) with Ofw. Sepp Traut in the cockpit of a He 111.
(Traut reported MIA 22/23-5-44 with the crew of Maj. Rath Kom. KG 2 ).

Chris do you know if Hpt.von Schenk was any relation to Oblt. Hans-Benno v.Schenk who was killed on 29th.Oct. 1940 as St.Kap. 5/LG 2 .

Also a photo of a later Poetter machine as a Kdr. in KG 77 (Ithink think this is the guy) in the old Kookaburra/Monogram 'Luftwaffe Camoflage' series.
