Hi, this is actually the emblem of 2./JG 26. It can be found described in:

Luftwaffe Embleme 1939-1945, Ketley & Rolfe, page 49.
and
Messerschmitt Bf 109 Into the Battle, M.Payne, page 26.

The 109 is consequently, with high probability, from 2./JG 26 - But who could have had the "Dog-emblem" as a personal emblem?

be this machine? Does the triangle behind the balkenkreuz denote a 2nd Staffel in the Schlachtgruppen?

A second look at my database shows a 'c + ^' lost on the same date from the same unit, this photo would seem a likely match to WNr. 6212.
