Mosquito Loss 1945(?) near Donauwörth
Friends found pieces from an RR-Engine, many relicts made from wood south of Donauwörth/Bavaria. The only information that was given by eyewitness, the plane (they mean if was an Spitfire) was burned and exploded by impact. Any idea?? Thanks for help!!

Hi.
Our War Diary in S Africa only goes to 15.8.44.This crew was supposed to photograph the Munich area.It was 13 days after P Pienaar had that famous brush with the 262 and survived. Do you have photo's of the wreck and the site??? Would love to get hold of some Thanks Stefaan |

Mosquito Type: FB VI, Serial # NS 898 H Date of crash: 27th May 1949 This plane crashed about 3 miles south east of Donauwörth, small village called Genderkingen / Urfahrhof. Is the place of crash correct?

Re: Mosquito Loss 1945(?) near Donauwörth
The village called Genderkingen, the Crash is o.k. but the people say it was in 1945. It looks like that at minimum there are 3 different crashplace in the aera. One is at the bank of the River Donau, an crashside from an B-26 from 17th BG (26. April 1945 shoot down by JV 44) is nearby.

Re: Mosquito Loss 1945(?) near Donauwörth
Mosquito NS898 was with No 11 Squadron at time of crash (27.5.49).
Station was Wahn. Dehavilland.ukf.net says that NS898 stalled off turn and spun into Danube (Donau), Hochstadt. Fate of crew is not mentioned. Regards, Leendert |
