Amazing what you can find in the ground.

Not an aircraft but still amazing archaeology.

Seems he was a medical officer but amazing the condition considering 55 years underground in a metal box!

If that link does not work.

Fifth story down.

Right little Aladdin's cave. Drink might be interesting, cigars not sure about. Still an amazing collection.

Happy New Year to Ruy and everyone who uses TOCH.

Those are Medical officer's epaulettes but the postcard is addressed to an Oberzahlmeister or paymaster.

Does anyone know what FPN 48650 was?

Interesting site.
Does the next to last photo on this link really show what I think?

Yes it does. Not what I like to see but it happens during recoveries.

By the way it has nothing to do with this Ju87 recovery - the pilot was a Russia who was recovered from his Hurricane in the arctic tundra. Won't go into details but the coroner was amazed at his preservation.

The Il-2 recovery on a Russian site listed a page or two back has the soviet pilot being rolled out of the puddle but nothing shown thankfully.

If you like tanks/military vehicles you need to go through the listed years.some amazing tank recoveries - T34, Stug3, KV-1, half tracks - nearly all from Eastern Europe.

Amazing time capsules some of these and not surprising there are teams looking for Tiger I's which supposedly will get the asking price of 1million $ if complete!

I'm pretty sure that it is.........is it my imagination or is it still with flying helmet and parachute? I wonder if there is any ID tag that could assist with ID for German War Graves people - or whether info has already been passed on?

A very interesting and well presented site nonetheless.

The picture of the pilot is not German but Russian and has nothing to do with the Ju87 dig.

From a Norwegian friend in 2003.

Hurricane Z2768 of 768 IAP PVO. Pilot Sgt Boris Aleksandrovich Lazarev. Shot down by Bf 109 of 6./JG 5 40 km N Loukhi. Wreck and remains of pilot found August 1998 by search group "Vysota" (Viktor Dudin). Sgt Lazarev (born 1921) put to rest at a war memorial at Chupa, Karelia. Wreck recovered to the Central War Historical Museum (TsVIM) at Poklonnoj near Moscow.
