Is it a D-9 or are my eyes deceiving me?

I would be careful with this album as for example a well known D-9 picture is on the "Demjansk 1942" page and another Me 262 photo I believed has been seen before on another page, as well as a what I believe known Do 217 night fighter photo. Spiced up a bit??? http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260205215238 “White 11” sold last year. Exact same photo. Goran |

You'll find the solution to the riddle at the LEMB forum! ;) Goran |
Re: Photos 1-22
Perhaps you could be more precise as to the LEMB location. Lot of stuff there.

Re: Photos 1-22
Yes, about that one album. It does appear to be spiced up a bit. The things to watch out for are a mix of different size images and different edge trimmings. Though not a guaranteed way to tell if something's been added, these are generally good indicators. Also, some photos may appear to be whiter than others.

Re: Photos 1-22
Hello!
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=290200566104 This Ju 88 hulk with remains of winter camouflage should be from 3./AGr 22? I think it is 4N+OL as other _N units did not fly Ju 88 IIRC. 3./AGr 22 switched from Ju 88 to Ju 188 already September 1943 ( http://www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/aufkl/b3ag22.html ). The staffel received one Ju 88D in early 1944, but there exists Finnish photo from the period and the code of the Staffel's last Ju 88 is 4N+GL (Valtonen's Luftwaffe pictorial, p. 47 ISBN 951-95688-6-7 ). This would date the photo object Ju 88 as early 1943 loss. It looks like it had been cannibalized for parts. Is anyone of the resident Ju 88 / loss experts able to crack this nut? Meaning what is the story behind this hulk? I used to know a now deceased man who served couple of months as bottom gunner in this staffel (3./AGr 22). I did even build a scale model for him and had to then take the markings out of hat. This photo - if my assumption is correct - would have been just for the right period. I still remember his first comment about the model. He said that they usually had enormous fuel tanks (prob. 900L) hanging under the wing both sides. My model lacked these... This kind of corrections one can be happy about. Another thing the man told about that bomb well doors were turned open when making photos with bigger camera. AFAIK this does not fit with Ju 88 D-1 subtype? Please answer at this forum if you intent to response. My PM box is full and will remain so. Thanking in advance, Kari |
