drawings?
Hi John,
There is a book out on Yak fighters (1996 or so) (covering mainly Yak 1/Yak7) by Sergei Kuznetsov. In Russian but the mst detailed analysis of this aircraft in any book I have seen. Erik's is good for camouflage as well. Sergei's is better for drawings/details and the construction numbers/types etc. Should find it on the web. - found this http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/Markings/D...rs_part07.html Apparently, AeroMaster has been perusing the various Yak fighter books recently published, and in this case they have stumbled upon an absolute winner. These decal sets were all taken from the pages of the very outstanding Yak-1 book by Russian author S. Kuznetsov, "Perviy Yak" ("The First Yak") [Lyubimaya Kniga Press, 1995]. This outstanding work may be regarded as the superlative current reference on the Yak-1 fighter, and with Kuznetsov's tireless research, very little here is left to chance. regards Mark |
Re: drawings?
There is a Russian site containing drawings of many planes:
http://www.airwar.ru/other/drawe.html Fighters are here: http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw_fw.html |

Hi, gentlemen !
Dont remember about famous russian painter Zlobin I.V. publishing on http://www.fighters.front.ru/str/mi.htm Best regards Marek |
Re: drawings?
sadly, I do not have "pervyi Yak" so I cannot comment on the quality of the drawings. (Kuznetzov)
it is on my list of books to get. Chris Banyai-Riepl's drawings of the Yak-9 (side views) do not look right to me. (his line drawings are in the previously mentioned "Soviet Airforce Fighter Colours 1941-1945") his artwork for the Yak-7-37 is totally wrong as it depicts the cockpit in the standard location, not moved back 400 MM as on the Yak-9T.K.DD and M. this aft-positioned cockpit was neccesitated by the MPSH 37 MM cannon. those websites you mention are only re-using the drawings from Modelist-Konstructor (Russian model builder's magazine) http://mkmagazine.almanacwhf.ru is part of the URL (full one eludes my memory at the moment) you may want to check out Alexei Matvienko's work here: http://www.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/...-matvienko.htm (translated by Alex Ruchkovsky) he has more sources than I do and will tell you what parts of which drawings are correct and what is not. P.F. p.s. personally I would like to see a sample of the drawings from Pervyi Yak (the first Yak) good drawings for the Yak-1 and Yak-1b are hard to find. |

It's here, I owe the book, the drawings are the same: http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/yak1.html These are the drawings from "Piervyj Jak" by Kuzniecov. We may consider the legality of pleacing them on the web site but is wide known Russian site so maybe thay have a permition. Don't blame me - I've just only shown the link... |
Re: drawings?
Leon,
thank you for the info. I have been aware of that website for a few months and aware of the Kuznetsov drawings for a few years, but up untill now I did not know the source. so, the Yak-1 is settled, which on do we move onto now? who has the best drawings for the Yak-3? (this one is a challenge) I think the LaGG-3 and La-5 drawings at the website above are the best (that I have seen) but the La-7 leaves much to be desired. please keep in mind I do not yet have the Veronin/Kolesnikov drawings nor do I have Milos Vestik's book on the La-7, so I will have to rely on your opinions for that. P.F. |

(very highly recommended) Milos Vestsik's book on the La-7 (MBI) is a superb reference for the La-7 the best drawings I have seen for them (better than above links) and again some of the best color profiles as well. it also has some photos of aces and has a complete list of La-7's transferred to the Czech air force with airframe production numbers and engine production numbers. (very highly recommended) |
Re: drawings?
I have information and saw the blueprints, that LAGG3 will be a topic in one of the forthcomming issues of Czech magazine REVI. Blueprints has been done by Martin ZAMEX Zamecnik bas on various photos and should be the best compilation of all possible data presented here:) including various subversions and even ski undercariadge...;)
best regards Peter:) |
