Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
Hello,
I have ordered my copy of this book but was wondering if anyone had seen it and could comment on the publication? Regards, Andy |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
..I think the date has slipped by another month - the publisher was aiming for the Duxford Autumn airshow (05 Oct) last I heard..

From conversations I have had from contributors to the book, it is an excellent book and its publication, whenever that is, it will have been well worth the wait!
Well done Theo! David. |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
I have either studied or own most of Theo Boiten's previous works and I can't speak highly enough about them. I contributed in a small way to this publication through a Helmut Lent Abschussmeldung and Gefechtsbericht etc that I own and believe Theo used this information in the publication.
I was asking the question more out of anticipation than anything else as I can't wait to get a copy in my hands! Regards, Andy |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
Hello all,
Is there somebody who has the latest news about the publication? Will that possibly be 5 okt as earlier mentioned in this topic? regards Mike |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
I too am a avid reader of Theo's books. My favourite is "Blenheim Strike", a magnificent read
With this new book this is what caught my attention: For the first time a picture of each major raid has been compiled as seen from both the Luftwaffe and RAF view, each night's activity is detailed, and each of the more than 6,000 night fighter claims listed. Most importantly, it has finally been possible to conclusively identify all the victors and victims of the majority of combats, a thing previously considered impossible in all but a few cases. The level of detail in these books will be a real eyeopener. :) |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
I received an email from Amazon today stating that my order had been cancelled due to the book being delayed. Any news on publication would be grateful received.
Regards, Andy |

Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
Dear All,
As there has been interest in (and confusion over) Theo's new book on this forum, I have up-loaded PDFs of sample pages on our server to give an idea of the scope and scale of the work. This can only be accessed by putting in the web addresses below - it is not intended to be accessed by the public: Introduction (including sources and acknowledgements) http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/aa/twe...JWDsample1.pdf 16-17/12/43 to 31/12/43 http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/aa/twe...JWDsample2.pdf 1/4/44 to 23/4/44 http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/aa/twe...JWDsample3.pdf The book has undergone many changes on its way into print. Its correct title is now 'Nachtjagd War Diaries - an operational history of the German Night Fighter Force in the West'. Volume 1 covers the period September 1939 to March 1944. Volume 2 covers the period April 1944 to May 1945. This volume has been co-authored by Rod Mackenzie. The final design of the covers and further details can be seen at: http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/index....futurereleases Publication is scheduled for 15 November 2008. Hope this is of interest and clears up any confusion. |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
My Uncle was lost on ED862P on the night of 29th July. Name was Sgt D.C. Fentiman.
Does the publication you mention give any details of the Helmut Lent kill that night? Thanks Barry Fentiman |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
Hi Barry,

I also checked Peter Hinchliffe's "The Lent Papers". It provides the same time and place for the kill, but the Lancaster's identity is listed as "unknown". No additional details, unfortunately. Leon Venter |
Re: Nachtjäger by Dr. Theo Boiten
Are the NJG on the eastern front covered in these two books and not just the RAF raids?
