Always Gruppe in this case (Fern and Nahaufklärungs units)

Hi, Remi

1./N.A.Gr 5 had a loss registered on 6.11.1944. I believe this to be the loss you are looking for.

It is registered as total loss without enemy inflicted damage, but on an operational sortie.

Is the following information correct according to your information?

Aircraft: Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 WNr 161463
Pilot: Oblt Loch
Location: Ostwärts Libau

In fact I think I found the pilot in the Volksbund database:

Zum Gedenken

Nachname:Loch
Vorname:Hans
Dienstgrad:Oberleutnant
Geburtsdatum:24.07.1915
Geburtsort:Düsseldorf
Todes-/Vermisstendatum:06.11.1944
Todes-/Vermisstenort:300 m westl. Kaupi 10 km ostw. Libau

The location is so exact that I guess the aircraft wreck hunters will be charging the batteries for their metal detectors overnight...

Andreas B

Hello Andreas ,

I think you found the right, bit after bit we will hv maybe a decent 1944 to show

One thing more the Wn is listed as 1611463, so it could be also 161146..

Re: 1.NAGr.15

I noted that the NAGr.13, hv a lot of the 1611xx serie, 1614xx seems to be normal G-6

I tried to find this "Kaupi" on Wehrmacht-Maps or in the internet, but had no success.

Did anyone else have?

How about the place called 'Kanepji' in "Google-Maps", roughly 10-15 km E of Liepaja (in German: Libau) in Latvija (in German: Lettland). On the map you can find the place just south of road "P106", in the middle between 'Virga' and 'Kniveri'.
Just a guess ..
