Re: Red Stars 6-Aeroflot Origins/Lennart Andersson
AFAIK, this title has not yet been published. But let's wait the author's note (he frequents this board).
P.S. I, for sure, am eagerly waiting for this title for quite a while... |
Re: Red Stars 6-Aeroflot Origins/Lennart Andersson
Yep, the publication date should be August 14.

Re: Red Stars 6-Aeroflot Origins/Lennart Andersson
This title has now finally appeared and is available from the publisher. In due time I hope that it will be retailed by the major internet aviation bookshops including Air-Britain Store.
Here you can find some information and a few page samples http://z-bok.se/catalog.11.html and this is the publishers online web shop: http://www.apali.fi/kauppa/product_details.php?p=275 Lennart Andersson |
Re: Red Stars 6-Aeroflot Origins/Lennart Andersson
Yesterday I received a copy of this book.
In a nutshell: a fascinating book, containing a wealth of information. It's even better than I've imagined. Therefore I can unequivocally state: the latest book of Lennart Andersson is a reference work, indispensable for anyone interested in Soviet aviation. Highly recommended. |

Re: Red Stars 6-Aeroflot Origins/Lennart Andersson
Well, that's easy :). It is a PWS 26 that was captured in Poland in 1939.
The same photo was published in "Polish Wings 7" together with a colour profile that shows CCCP-C235. I think that the registration looks more like CCCP-232(x), but have not seen any document that refers to PWS-26 aircraft. Lennart |

Re: Red Stars 6-Aeroflot Origins/Lennart Andersson
Guys
Got the book yesterday from Lennart and what can I say? Didn't think he could outperform his former books, but he manage somehow to wring still more details out of ancient Soviet (aka Russian) files, and if you are interested in THE complete Soviet civil aviation history during the 1920's and 1930's (+ WW 2) there are just two words for this book. GET IT!! Never thought I would see the Soviet civil register of this period in print, but I just did....:) Cheers Stig |

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7...sovietcccp.jpg [Source: eBay] In your book, this code is given as worn by a U-2, registration cancelled in Jan. 1939. Can then be assumed that the cancelled registrations were (sometimes) reused? |

Re: PWS-26 in Soviet hands
Hi
The photo of this PWS-26 is not the same it is next (or the first edited) from the oposite side (this in PWS-26's book is right side, this below is left). It is Lvov-Sknilov, Lwów-Skniłów airfiled in VII 1941. I have a color drawing exactly this particular plane specialy done for my book "Red Stars Black Cross's Ally over Poland" printed in IX 2008 in Poland according Tomek's photos, which scan is also in Denes collection?. You may see it: http://www.kecay.com/mirek.htm Regards mw |
