on the 10 jan 1945, b17g all american girl dropped out of formation,bomb bay doors open, no chutes all engines running, last see heading for belgium, crashed gladbach germany. targets cologne, dusseldorf and duisberg. regards david |

Loss of B-17 All American Girl
In re MACR No. 11 744, the cause of loss was unclear at the time. Page 1 of the MACR form states cause of loss as "unknown." Brief statement at the end of p. 2 of the form reads:
"A/C #42-37936 was last seen at 1228 headed toward Belgium with BB doors open. BB doors had been open since target time. All engines were operating. A/C seemed to be in no trouble." RA |
