Hi.

The original loss records are as follows:

http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=103090

http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=100113

http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=100114

All these were blown up by own troops, probably as they were evacuating the airfield. If this would have been in the western sector I would not be surprised if photos of these turned up in some GI's album. The number of such photographs from the eastern front is limited.

Regards,
Andreas B

Hello. Please help in identifying the aircraft (and crew of the regiment) that had crashed in Wormditt. In the literature, given that it was a plane with four crew members. Crash occurred after hitting the tower of the monastery in Wormditt probably in February 1944. The entire crew died and was buried in the local cemetery.
During this period, the airport was based III/KG77 -7.43 - 10/03/1944.
Thanks in advance for your help.

"bei" is the German word for "at" or "near"

Re: Flugplatz Wormiditt

I am looking for information about Luftwaffe aircraft that crashed at the airport Wormditt and in the surrounding area.

In the years 1939-1945 were based at the airport:
Fronttruppenteile
4./Aufklärungs-Gruppe (F) 14
Stab / Nachtjagdgeschwader 5
Teile I. / Nachtjagdgeschwader 5
I. / Nachtjagdgeschwader 5
Teile III. / Nachtjagdgeschwader 5
5./Nachtjagdgeschwader 102
Nachtschlachtgruppe 1
I. / Kampfgeschwader 26
III. / Kampfgeschwader 77
Ersatztruppenteile
Flieger-Ausbildungs
-Regiment 33

Some of the information received in posts. Thank you very much for the information.
A witness who worked at the airport as a forced laborer said that often the aircraft exploded after take-off in the area of the airport (sabotage).
Several times I came across the remains of the aircraft in the area. Now I am trying to identify them.
For any help thank you in advance.

Re: Flugplatz Wormiditt

Welcome.
This year we have located two fall (crash) Luftwaffe aircraft near Orneta / WORMDITT (Poland / East Prussia).
Unfortunately, based on a small number of these aircraft can not be accurately identified.
The first plane crashed 4 km from the airport Wormditt in the village of New Manor / NEUHOF (3km north of Orneta / Wormditt). I suppose it could be FW190 and Me110.

The second fell in the vicinity of Lubomino / Arnsdorf (5km south), 15km southeast of the airport Wormditt. Right between the villages of PETERSDORF and SCHWENKITTEN, Near Lake Tonka / DITTRICHSDORFER SEA. Was passed, it may be Ju88, He 117
My assumption may be misleading.
Is there any way to determine the date of the flight and the aircraft type.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Robert
