Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

I was wondering if anyone had a list or further information about successful pilots who flew the Fw 190D9 and the Ta 152. I know Dortenmann had the most claims with the Fw 190 D9, but I was wondering if there was further information on other pilots. Thank you.

some info here, most of which ended up on Wikipedia ..

Walter Loos' Ta 152 "claims" were expressly denied by Loos himself in an unpublished interview given to Jean-Yves Lorant in the late 70's

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

Do you know which Ta 152 pilots shot down 5 or so victories, and other than Dortenmann, any other successful 190d9 pilots?

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

there were no Ta 152 pilots with '5 or so victories'. IV./JG 51 Heinz Marquardt had a similar victory total to Dortenmann on the Dora. Some sources give Kommandeur IV./JG 51 Oblt. Guenther Josten seven vics on one sortie at the controls of a Dora...

This sound like top mission score for the type. Do you have more info to share please? (I make plastic kits and this will be nice to have kit of this particular plane)

Cheers :)

Wasnt Josef Kiel supposed to be the only known 152 ace????

Sorry my english, please.

Thank you for the information. I also thought Keil had 5 victories with the 152?

Hi,

Oberleutnant Günther Josten is said to have claimed seven aerial victories on 25 April 1945 while flying with the Stab of IV./J.G. 51. The source for this is Ernst Obermaier. These were his 172nd to 178th claims.

Cheers,

Keil gives an account in Jean-Yves Lorant's old Docavia book 'Le Fw 190' - in it he talks of 'probable' victories.

Loos states in his Flugbuch 4 claims of russian fighters. 2x 24.4.1945, 1x 25.4.1945 and 1x 30.4.1945. All in Ta 152 "4"

Any info from Soviet sources?

..his 'Flugbuch' ? ..or the 'doctored', re-constituted, patched-up photocopied version floating around ? probably not to be relied upon....

Loos also 'witnessed' a number of Dahl's victories in late 1944-early 1945 ..a good month or two after he left JG 300

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

Neil, I did not have it in hands, but the last page I have is a color photo of what seems original paper. I have it from source, who personally knew Loos, and received his LW uniform as well.
So no photocopy definitelly. Dunno if Loos faked his Flugbuch postwar...cannot judge that.

FalkeEins 9th August 2011 15:51

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

Hi Peter,

no I doubt Loos bothered 'faking' his Flugbuch post-war..

but someone - probably not Loos himself - has 'created' a version of the Loos Flugbuch from photo copies and then taped the photos together to create a contiguous document, although it looks as though a new page has been pasted over the top of an old one which covers this late-war period. Could be completely innocent for all I know...

Is your image the 'good' copy showing Page 52 all flights from 861 to 876..?

Hi Neil,

Yes, this is what I have. I have been told it comes directly form the Flugbuch...I have three separate photos, and I stitched it together...

what do you think?

regards

Peter

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

thanks Peter - this certainly looks like a 'good' copy as far as I can tell ...and interesting in that it appears to come from the actual Flugbuch - the cover is just visible (?) ... all I've ever seen are page copies...

I guess 'statements' to the contrary have to go down as no more than 'hearsay' in the face of 'documentary' evidence

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

Neil, I am glad I could help.
I also saw the cover of FB, and had it from man, who was trustful. So I never doubt.
I hope that there is no such a fake FB in such a masterpiece status, including ink stamps on 1944/45 paper kind :)
so does this mean that Loos had possibly really 4 Russian planes claimed in Ta 152?

FalkeEins 10th August 2011 13:21

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

..as a sceptic I'd say all Ta 152 claims were 'unsubstantiated'. Evidence for or against is largely based on personal reminiscence.

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

think that we may have to question any claims of pilot's with over 3-4 victories flying these late war machines. some speculation with O. Romm with his 6 plus kills against the Soviets in 1945 with the Dora 9, though a nice write up some years ago in A. Prices compilation on the Fw 190 series.

Re: Successful Fw 190D9 and Ta 152 pilots.

Here's the facts from Günther Jostens diary:

"25. April 1945.

We (i. e. NeunundzwanzigSechs) have just published Günther Jostens War Diaries at full length, commented by Willie Göbel (historian of the Gemeinschaft der Flieger) and me. An incredible source for everybody who deals with JG 51 and the eastern front. See www.neunundzwanzigsechs.de and click either 'Günther Josten' or 'Gefechtsbricht' for details.

Cheers,
Kurt

Six years later after this discussion was held - I wonder if there are any news about possible aces on Ta 152s and what happens with the high claims on Doras...
I am not much of the abschuss counter but would for sure like to know
Best,
Milos
