Is this an updated edition?

Yes Ed

At least that is what it is hoped to be....;)

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Do you know that for fact Stig? Reason I ask is that there is varying opinion over on the LEMB as to whether the original will be updated and the errors corrected - or it will just be a straight forward reprint. I fear the latter... but I'll be over the moon if new emblems are added and the few errors in the 1998 edition corrected :)

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Thank you, Peter. I'll be sending off an e-maill to Crecy to hopefully clarify things.

My attempt to e-mail Crecy failed. They give their address as info@crecy.co.uk

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Well Peter

I am not privy to either Crecy nor Barry Ketley, but if it is a simple reprint, why take so long? And if it was a reprint why then leave Mark Rolfe's name out? Not sure where I picked up it was to be a new edition and not just a reprint, but admittedly Crecy is not all roses. Their new Stuka book by Peter Smith is a disaster where even a non-specialist like me drown in errors.

Anyway they have managed a new front cover, so I hope it is not just wishful thinking ;). A wonderful idea just struck me, buy one Peter and report back if I was wrong or not, ehh...? :D Nah, just kidding you of course!

If you look closely, Mark Rolfe's name does appear on the cover:

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

I remember when Barry left Hikoki Publications he founded Flight Recorder. Do not know whether Barry still in charge or what happened since looks they do not have a webpage anymore. Did Crecy has got FR?

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Quite correct Ed

Looks like I have to take a step downhill with regard to the book.

Anyway let's see what happens after publication and if someone reviews it

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

I totally agree with your sentiments in post #6 Stig and I too hope Flight Recorder/Crecy have used this opportunity to update the subject matter. However, I still have an uneasy feeling that a straight forward reprint/repackaging will appear, just as they've done with previous Hikoki titles and that will most definitely be a missed opportunity...

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Some excellent news on this title chaps, LEMB member Luftdad took the opportunity to visit the Crecy stand at IPMS Modelworld at Telford and enquire about this book. The good news is that this will not be a straight forward reprint of the Hikoki title but will be a brand new edition with over 1000 emblems. Also, this new edition is scheduled to be published in March or April 2012...

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Good news indeed Peter

Must be thanks to me, since I have used my spare time to communicate softly with the Lord about this matter....;)

Hopefully they will do a much better job than with the Stuka book recently published by them....

Cheers

The new revised edition is now available with 112 pages and 1017 emblems, 153 more than the 1st edition. Available from The Book Depository, Aviation Megastore, etc and even Ebay.

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

May I ask if any previously unknown emblems have been given a confirmed identity?

Best,
Ed

Re: Luftwaffe Emblems ?

Hello Ed,
I have not taken delivery of this book yet but Peter D. Evans at LEMB has indicated that some emblems labelled as unidentified in the 1998 book have been identified with this new revision.
