-member of a Nacthjatgdgeschwader

(4) ZAHRADNICEK Edler von KASTELIK,Rudolf Missing in East February 1942.
(5) WRANGELL, Olaf Baron v. - Born 4.7.1906 KIA Teltow bei Berlin 24.4.1945 , Hauptmann der Luftwaffe, Flugkapitän der Deutschen Lufthansa.
(6) WITZENDORF-REHDIGER, Christian v. - Born 27.9.1923 KIA (durch Arbstürtz) 14.6.1943

There is no loss for 29 March 1944 in Michael Ball book about NJG personal losses. And no mention of any ZOBELTITZ around this date.

If you look in the ''On Offer' section there was a thread by David Lenk 'Lw.Offz Sterbebild Deat Notices' with a list of von names on death notices he had for sale. On 11-4-1941 3/KG55 lost Ff Lt. Graf v. Krockow, Caspar and the same night 7/KG55 lost Ff. Lt. Prinz Biron, Gustav v. Kurland Ludwig ( thats how the names appear in the KG 55 history) on mission to bomb Birmingham. On 13-7-1944 10/JG2 lost Ofhr. Ruthart v. Richthofen,

Yes, I realize that it will take a while. The reference guide I'm using is a German publication circa 1950's that list all (most?) of the German nobles KIA/MIA in WWII.

It also includes such people as Sq Ldr. Colloredo-Mansfeld, who was an Austrian noble , KIA flying for the British.

Re: Adel Luftwaffe KIA- Info needed

I tried looking through the available GQM list for your items 3-7 all I found was an entry on report dated 30-7-1941 for item 3 . Ju88D-1 F6+FH 1195 B Oblt Graf v Zedlitz u Tutzschler, Konstatin and crew of 1(F)/122 all missing on 27-7-1941.
As regrads item 5 - I could not find anything in the GQM but on searching for Olaf Baron Wrangell (spelt Wrangel) it came up with one born in 1928 and wounded in the defense of Berlin 1945.
Likewise item 7 - nothing in the GQM but several sites had him born 1-9-1914 and lost over Italy on 8-8-1942. Looking around both dates I could not find his name. Perhaps it is entered differently or their losses are a late entry.
Good luck with your project,

Regards

Have you tried this site http://alifrafikkhan.blogspot.com/20...acht-yang.html it is also on 'The Axis Forum' in a thread 'Nobles casualty list'

Yes, you are right. The body was found by chance by a archaeologist in 1965 on the island and was classified as possible "medieval turk", died in the siege of Marseille. Close to the island, we did some research about a sunken german DB601 Engine, so the body was interesting for us again. About 2006 Luc Vanrell located the remains again, now in the US, and we initiated together a DNA research to compare the DNA with the brother of Alexis, also a former JG27 fighter pilot. The result was succesfull.

Lino,

Just a quick question, was this the DB601 that was found near the remains of De Expury's F-5 wreckage?

Lt. Adolf Freiherr von Böselager - 1./JG 21

Born 24/07/1917 - Burg Peppenhoven
MIA 13/05/40 - Belgium
Recovered 15/09/2002 - Leuze (Namur)
Buried with honour 6/12/2002 Burg Peppenhoven

A portrait of him exists, even if wrongly captioned, in H-E BOB's memoirs. Both flew together in Poland.

Yes, the engine was found in the same area.

@CinA-78
The Böselager recovery story was also very interesting.

Not only the 'vons' and 'zus' but also the 'zurs', such as Prinz zur Lippe.
