Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
Hi Tolesa
Do you mean Heinkel He 111B? If you do, I am fairly sure that these WNr's would be late He111B-2 series, but nothing else to offer at present Ian |
Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
Hello Ian, of course, He 111, I corrected it now...

Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
A few He111B-2's with WNr's in this range finished their lives with FFS C6 and C9.

Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
Erfurt pretty far from France, even if we hv stollen some german-speaking lands in the past , no Erfurt drin, no-end live, but contrary the 2196 hv been new accepted , like after an accident or some important change in the plane structure

Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
2196 after accident was rebuilt on some other type? Could it be P 2 or some other? Thanks, Rémi. M.

Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
We are there conjecturing, the only fact is that the plane was accpted in April 40, as that date pretty far from man. date, we could suppose that acceptation resulted from a major event, overhaul, repair, or modification, change of engines ?? Never seen picture of an old frame with DB engines..

Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
There were almost certainly two different He111’s with the WNr. 2196. The first would have been a He111B-2. But this work number block was also used for He111P-2. These are not re-builds, but new aircraft. The 2196 at Erfurt in April 1940 could be either aircraft. If it was the He111P-2 we would suspect that it was still an operational aircraft. If the He111B-2 still existed at this time then it would have been retired to a training unit some time before.

Ian
I would be interested to know your source that WNr 2196 was also a P-2. It is not mentioned as such by Volker Koos in his article for Jet & Prop number 2/2010. Both WNr 2177 and 2196 are only listed as B models. Cheers Stig |
Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
Thank you both. Ian, please, any history for P -2 2196?

Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
Hi Stig and all
Thanks to the Prop and Jet pointer. I didn't have a copy of this. I have good evidence for these being in the He111B block, as I had stated in the early post. But I accept that I only have references to a few surrounding He111P-2 WNr, which appeared to suggest that these numbers were part of a He111P-2 block as well, but no certainty to this. PLEASE ignore my previous comment!:o Ian |
Re: Heinkel B W.Nr. 2196 and W.Nr. 2177
No worries Ian
If you send me a private msg with your e-mail address I will scan the J&P article to you, where according to Koos the P-2 WNr batch ends. :) Cheers Stig |
