Monte Amiata, Italy
During the II WW Monte Amiata, south Tuscany, was hit several time by allied bombers, and many airplanes belly landed or crashed there. Is there any book or witness about these casualities? Few days ago I was able to find a crash site of a german airplane, here two parts of the many I was able to collect

Do you have any idea where there is the chance to find out casualities in this area? Regards, Andrea |

Re: Monte Amiata, Italy
Hi friends
Finally it seems that one of the 2 wrecks in Monte Amiata got an answer...Thanks to Andrea Raccagni and Elena Zauli, 2 skilled researcher, we know the names of the crew and the WN of the Ju 88 that crashed during the night close to the top of the mountain: 1. November 1943 5./KG 30, Ju 88 A-4 550424 4D+FN 100% reason unknown, Abbadia-San-Salvatore-Castel-del-Piano (Monte Amiata) Toscana/Italy Uffz. Uffz. Hans Pschibul KIA Uffz. Alfons Wirket KIA (B) Gefr. Michael Lindner KIA (Bf) Uffz. Martin Klotz KIA (Bs) Target was Naples Harbor, Takeoff was Villafranca airfield Now we can definitely say where they ended their last flight. Still missing news for the other wreck in Monte Amiata, reported to be happened in the day after easter in april 1944... |
