Luftwaffe over Kijev on 22.06.41?

In the morning on 22.06.41 a few LW planes had attcked Kijov. Russian had observed 19 bombers. I wonder which German unit had done this attack? Could be one Staffel or Gruppe of KG 51, KG 54 or KG 55, but exactly which?

Hi Mirek,

The raid on Kiev 22 June 1941 was made by I./KG 55. Does your source state the time of the raid ?

Thanks

Thanks
it was 7.15 a.m. Russian time, 90 bombs (50-100 kg) fallen from 2000 m in several places. During attack on Kiev airport was killed 32 persons, 34 wounded. Pilots of 43. IAP PVO traied to faind them, without succes, too late took off.

That is earlier than I would have thought, it must have been their second mission of the day.

I do not know about any earlier mission over Kiev? To far away. It was 7.15 a.m. Russian time, so it could be the 1-st mission for them in my opinion.
It took time to load bomb and refulled He 111.

Sorry, I meant second mission for the day, I was wondering if the first mission was probably attacks on airfields near the border...But come to think of it, from Labunie to Kiev is almost two hours flying time for an He 111. If they started about 4.30 a.m. Russian time that would be about right.

In the afternoon they could done the second mission near the border but I think not earlier the after 12.00. the 1-st was over the city.

Interesting that there were send 19 He 111s, and it means 2 "Staffelen" not 3.

Yes, I./KG 55 had 27 He 111s on 21 June all serviceable, it makes sense that it was 2 "Staffelen"...was their target an HQ ?

Mirek, is this from Mark Solonin's book "Новая хронология Катастрофы 1941"? It also stated that one I-16 crashed on take-off and one I-16 that did pursuit ran out of fuel and was damaged.

There are other sources about first day over Kijev before M. Sołonin and losses.
In Aviatja i Vriemia 10 (?) years ago, was long story about this subject written by A. Kotlobowsky plus next one author.
Guljas also written story about air war over South-Western Front too. Solonin also put next data in his book.
Next there is story about history of 43. IAP PVO too, very interesting. Sołonin is not only source, but very usefull of course.

BTW
in Borispol were a few, at least 9 or so, 4-motore TB-7. There are different information, one gives that 1 TB-7 was destroyed, other that 4 were destroyed in the morning on 22.06.41?
