Hi - sorry for the late reply but I would be interested to know if anyone can confirm the identity of the Mosquito flown by F/O N S Head with F/O A C Andrews acting as observer which was involved in this action.
I know it was a Mosquito XIII of 96 Squadron flying from West Malling. Thanks |

Höhenflosse Rechts, Zeichn.Nr. 88.343, applicable to A-1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, C-1, 2, 4, 5, 7, D-1, 2 (Ref: Parts manual, April 1941) Production date of the part is August 1940, so if coming from A-4 140099 4D+FP (or 4D+IP) shot down at Blackbrook, Hollywood Common, nr Docking, Britain 14.03.1944.... Then this be re-used, re-cycled or spare part. Production version in August 1940 was the A-5, but many A-1 and A-5 parts were compatible for use on A-4 or other sub-versions. My two pennies, Ed |

Many thanks. Yes - the part was recovered recently from the Blackbrook site and is, I understand, from a Ju88A-4 Werke Nr. 140099 coded 4D + FP. I will post photos of a couple of other bits we are trying to identify. Nick |

Not seen such instruction placard before (that I remember). BTW the 140099 dates from about June 1942, new-(parts) made in April/May 42, so it might have had more replacement/re-cycled parts fitted, but no crash over 10% recorded.

If plane is elevated (Tail on stand) and engine not supported, do not remove the cap.

The description we have is :
"the camouflage of the upper surfaces was a light blue-grey mottled dark green. The undersurfaces were spray painted black, whilst the engine cowlings were yellow with wavy lines of black". I believe this is known as the "Wellenmuster" camouflage scheme but have been unable to trace any photographs of Ju88's from KG30 dating from the Winter/Spring 1944 that appear to match this description. Most seem to have a predominately green upper surface with blue-grey "squiggles" - excuse the technical term. I would be most grateful for any help with this. I am aware that an aircraft from 4/KG30 coded 4D + AM was shot down on 21/22 March 1944 at Latchingdon in Essex but haven't been able to find photographs of that aircraft either. |

I have a number of photos showing this camouflage but not on KG 30 aircraft. Have you looked at Red Kite's book on the Baby Blitz?

As I know thanks to Yeomans camouflage of the upper surfaces was a light blue-grey.
So it is probably RLM 76 - maybe any different ideas? With mottled dark green. RLM 70 or 71? - Any ideas? Soon I'll post hypothetical view so I please You for comments and notices. |

This time I'm starting with new Ju 88 A-4 of KG 30.
What is the most interesting, that we don't have any photographs. Only few parts of aircraft: Ju88A-4 Werke Nr. 140099 which crashed in the UK on 13/14 March 1944. The aircraft was from 6/KG30 and was coded 4D+FP. "The camouflage of the upper surfaces was a light blue-grey mottled dark green. The undersurfaces were spray painted black, whilst the engine cowlings were yellow with wavy lines of black." And that's all. Maybe someone could help with it. This profiles will be printed and exposed near to relicts of described Ju 88 A-4, so I would like to reconstruct this the most perfect I can. After discussion at forums. I've prepared third version of hypothetical view of Ju 88 A-4 of 6./KG 30. Aircraft was built at 1942 year - so the most probably it had standard RLM 70 / RLM 71 camouflage.
I've decided to pattern this one with wellmunster RLM 76 waves and RLM 22 waves under engine's cowlings. Bottom of aircraft is black. Balkenkreuz and code nb are in my reconstruction repainted by any color. Can any of you weapons experts kindly suggest the identity of the attached ? It still held live 7.91 ammunition so a feed to one of the MG81 's perhaps ? I haven't been able to find a photograph or drawing that would seem to match this though.
