Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I do have some difficulties to identify this crash landed Me-109, on the attached file, which the caption says was taken in Evreux, Normandie 1940-1941. So any idea about the Jagdgeschwader or any else are welcome. Thanks in advance to any help. Have a good week-end. Loic |
Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
Hi Loic,
Thanks for this picture I didn't know I (we) can complete the StKz G?+EX to GA+EX (The letter A isn't visible on two former eBay pictures); that is an Arado built Bf 109 E-1, WNr. 3853 ... This pic, or another one - I don't know - was published in Jet&Prop 8/9 2008. But .. No clue for the unit unfortunately. 5./JG ? It is said (In Jet & Prop?)January 1940??? Very doubtful. My best guess is JG 3. Regards, Franck. |
Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
5./JG2 22.6.40
Regards Robert |

Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
Yes it's of course the same aircraft as you said in your reply Franck, thanks again

Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
That longish II. Gruppe bar seems more indicative of II./JG 3 if I had to make a guess. Certainly not I./JG 2

Loss in Prien is not a clue so far. And Evreux was in JG 3 range end of May, early June. |
Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
Ok Jim, yes it's seem to be more from JG3 as Franck said before. Thanks

Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
Hi Franck,
and how many photos you have seen of 5./JG2? One, two, three? I have a photo of 5./JG2 "black 6", which confirms the shape of the number. So far no loss for II./JG3 at Evreux. Give us some facts Franks not assumptions. Robert |

None of course :D.!!!! Come on Robert, you know perfectly that loss lists are far to be complete, that many need to be corrected some times and that a writing on back of a picture is to be taken with care too. (And if we take Jet & Prop caption - January - for good we have a problem!!!) I just said my best guess is JG 3 for the same reason wrote by JimP. Why you didn't interpellate Jim too and for the same reason?? Now, if you want it TO BE JG 2, it's up to you; but I'll stay with my guess WITHOUT writing JG 3 on my captions until further notice. Best regards, Franck. |
Re: Help to identify this crash landed Me-109 please
Basing on your opinion on loss list I see that further discussion with you will be pointless.
Regards Robert |
