Hello,

Lörges came down after aerial combat near Sinzig-Franken. The crash side of his G-8 was located in 1997, he was listed as MIA before.

Hello Melvin,

May I ask you, from where are comings the dates you quote ??

Bäz was with the NAGr.13 when killed near Würzburg FP, name given as Böz fritz or Bäz heinz

Bolten , not Paul note !, on 2.Jan.45 quoted als MIA, probably became a POW on 25.Dec. 44, he lived then in N.Y.

Schuster hans , put down by fighters on 24/25.Dec. on the Trier area, a POW

Klems karl killed in the Trier-Euren area, cause ... ??

Many thanks, Matti, Heuser and Remi!

To answer your question regarding my source, the info was sent to me by Adolf Welter from Trier, if my memory is correct? Please see attachment.

Moien,
Uffz. Kurt Klems was shoot down in an dogfight, people say with P-38! I cant not find any victory for this 22. Dezember 1944 by the 9th Airforce. His Rottenflieger return to Niedermendig! Klems crashed at the emergeny landing at the Airfield Trier-Euren. He was burried as an unkown airmen at the local cemetary untill 1987!

Fhj-Feldwebel Hans Schuster shoot down during dogfight with P-51, 24. Dezember 1944. He bailed over the River Sauer (Border between Germany and Luxembourg) and landed in Luxembourg, became PoW. In 1957 or so he left Germany for settlement in Australia.

Thanks Hans, very interesting indeed, I wonder if anyone has further information regarding Hans Schuster? I would also be very grateful for information regarding Werner Kohla, formerly of 4./(F)123

Very shortly I will be adding all my 1 & 4./(F)123 material to our website. I have been researching the two Staffel's since 1996. I have many personal accounts and photographs regarding the 1st Staffel from 1939/42 with details of the 4 Staffel from 1942/43 with some 1944 losses. If anyone has any 1 & 4 Staffel related material in their files that they are willing to share with me I would be extremely pleased to hear from you.

Regards,

Melvin

Hello Melvin,

3./ u. 4./F 123 (Eins.) (later NAGr. 1) where at the airfield Trier-Euren from about 5. - 9. September 1944 before they moved for the new Airfield Niedermendig. People here wonder that the 109 start when the Air Raid Warning was given, but do not attack any allied planes! They do not know, this pilots where not Jagdflieger!! Uffz. Klems crashed at Oktober 1944 with his 109 near the small village of Ulmen (enginetroubel) and was lightly wounded. He and his fellow pilots known the airfield Trier-Euren and Wittlich-Wengerohr very well, so I think that was the reason why he tried to land the day he died. About 30 years ago little parts from his plane and one MG 131 in perfect condition where salved at the former airfield Euren. An air recce photo from 7th PG (25. Dezember 1944)shown clearly the point of impact from Klems plane!
In Februar 1945 NAGr. 1 has an heavy dogfight with P-51 from 354th FG overe the "Hunsrück", four Bf 109 lost, one of them flown by Uffz. Windsberg (bailed out). Parts of his 109 where saved by the local priest and remain until today!!! OLtn. Kohla served after the war with the new Luftwaffe, if have photos from him when he was with NAGr. 1

Re: 2./N.A.Gr.1 Losses 1944

Remi, Schuster was still with 4./(F)123 in May 44 in France. I have a photo of him stood in front of a "Blue" nosed Bf 109.

Hans, That is very interesting information and very useful. I would like to find out more about Werner Kohla, maybe someone has information regarding his time in the Bundesluftwaffe after the war. Does anyone know where he was born etc?

Attached a picture of Uffz. Windbergs and Oblt. Kohla and Ofw. Mombartz at I believe Niedermendig.

Melvin

Hello Melvin,
I will take a look over my infos about OLtn. Kohla (at home!) I think he promoted up to Oberst in the new Luftwaffe and ret. about 1980 (I not sure about this, I must look into my paperwar!!!) I have copies from letters he wrote when one of his men MIA during November & Dezember 1944. They are different as the normal letters about the "Heldentod"!!.

It's probably the same man but the mission you mention was ordered by 4.(F)/123 on 22 August. Staffel Kaatsch started forming two days later and as far as I know included no pilots from 4.(F)/123, just one of their aircraft.
