Fw. Gerhard Guttman, JG26, shot down 27 march 44

Hi,
I came across this german loss, on March 27, 1944, near Auneau, France (28700)

"Fw. Guttmann, Gerhard, born 29.01.1921 in Neuscholle. Block 1 Reihe 14A Grab 568. Kriegsgräberstätte in Solers. Shot down by a P-47. Crashed in Auneau, Eure-et-Loir. 8./JG 26.

This could be a very good candidate for my crash site, can anyone give me more info, type of plane he was in, other reports, etc?

Regards,
Fabrizio

8./JG 26 was part of III. Gruppe (JG 26). At the date of your crash, they were based at Etain, France (this is near Verdun and seems along way from your crash site). At the time in March 1944, I believe they were equipped with the Bf 109G-6. If it was a P-47 that shot him down, the likely candidate(s) are 8th or 9th USAAF.

P.S. I did a Google of "Gerhard Guttmann". A Uffz. Gerhard Guttmann of JG 26 is recorded with 10 air victories. In January 1944, he was flying a Fw 190, possibly an A-6?.

Thank you for the answer,

I know Verdun might seem too far away, but the crash report says crash in Auneau, wich is 5/6 km from the site, and first important city around.
Interesting too, the fact that they might be equipped with G6, because that's also the most probable model of the wreck I'm recovering ( based on engine parts, serials, ammunition found)

Thank you very much udf_00, that "kills" this hypothesis.

But also brings up the fact that there's possibly a rare 190 A7 wreck just around my house, that would be a nice next step!
Any other informations about the crash circumstances are very welcome!

Why is it a rare 190 A7 wreck?

Re: Fw. Gerhard Guttman, JG26, shot down 27 march 44

Maybe I'm wrong, but according to the french Wiki, only 400 A-7 were made.

Compared to the 24000 Gustavs, I think that makes it "rare"?

The place where Guttmann was found was 1.2 km west. from Auneau without chute !, the plane was 1.5 km west. from Auneau

EM of Guttmann was 68454/225 29.jAN.1921 Neuscholle Oels

From german papers he is Guttmann benamed !

He was late to start that day due to motor problems, try to join is group above Chartres, but seems he just found US Fighters there, who slaugthered him !
