Hi there Franck! Glad you pick up again your good old habits to boost our interests ;-)

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Pilot-ME...item35d36cce96
Pic no 10 is a real head scratcher: labelled as being a JG 52 plane shot in France, 1944. It actually shows the pilots of 2./JG 11 atop of one of the Stab /JG 11 Bf 109 G-6's in Husum, early 1944. The third from left is Uffz. Siegfried Rudschinat. Information courtesy of Gorm Helge Grønli Rudschinat, Bf-109 Messerschmitt Group, Facebook.com, 14 March 2014.

Cheers
Marc

Hi Marc,

Thank you for this precious info!

All the best, Franck.

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

You're most welcome Franck!

With an important correction though: Gorm Rudschinat informed us that this pic is actually showing all the pilots of 10./JG 11 at Aalborg Ost, early 1944. First one, holding the dog is Oblt Heinz Grosser, Staka 10./JG 11.

Cheers
Marc

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Ah ...

Alois Jakob (Fw.) the owner of the photoalbum from which this picture is extracted was effectively in 10./JG 11.
Better like this...
Are we reading "Bruder", wrote on picture?

And you can wisely compare with the following photo: http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=7402 (Background constructions).

Regards, Franck.

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Yep, I did so Franck, for the buildings and for seeing Rudschinat at close quarters. Do you know more about Alois Jakob ? I checked out Prien but did not find him... And we do read Brüder, with Umlaut... though I wondered if we should read Bründler.

Cheers
Marc

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Nothing more than what is written in the Kracker list:
i.e:
Fw 190A-8 Werk # 731034 "Blue 2" (dam 4/5/44) & WIA 5 April, 1944, during aerial combat with a P-47 in the Alencon area; DOW 22 July, 1944. One known victory, his 1st, a P-47 in the Alencon area on 5 July, 1944.
...
I suppose that "Alençon" is linked to the seller "France" caption.

And Bruder & Brüder are both family names, too... Didn't find any Bründler though.

Cheers my friend.
Franck.

Hello,

I'm particularly interested in knowing if anyone has any identifications for the Bf109E crash photos, especially "White 14" of I./JG3. I don't recall seeing other images of this incident in France during 1940.

Regards,

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Yes Larry,

One of the reasons I did start this thread!

"Rote 2" (Sic), a Bf 109F of 2./JG 3 could very well depict the Lt. Erich Buchholz accident at St Pol Brias on 16-May-1941. 95%. (Bf 109F-1 WNr. 5727)

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Hi Gents,

- Any comments available for this Bf 109F-4 (or an Arado F-2 with the last engine) "P -" behind Galland?

- What about the Dunkerque beached one? Looks like Wissant old eBay auction with all this team surrounding it... :) But different view... Or, it wasn't Wissant at all, however I think it's the same machine depicted here.

- As for "Weisse 14", no clue but http://www.ebay.de/itm/JG-3-Messersc...item5afd4b15ed back does indicate 2 deads during this accident: "1 Flugzeug F(uhrer) and 1 ???. Tot."

- I think I missed one JG 3 "Gelbe 7" crash picture in the list above. Let me check ...

Same thing; on Picture's back ... Uffz. ???

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

@ Franck,

as far as i could decipher the writings:

- weiße 14 abgestürzt. 1 Flugzeugf., 1 Funker tot

- Beim Start überschlug sich Uffz. Gräf mit der gelben 7 weil mit Rückenwind...

Best Regards
Norbert

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Hello Norbert,

there is an Uffz. Karl Gräf, I./JG 3, cited in JFV Teil.2 for an accident, 10%, on 21-Jan-1940 at Montekoven - most probably not that one.

Then, 3./JG 3, cited in JFV Teil.2 & Teil.3.I for air victories only ... After 28/08 .. nothing.

But:
There is a Kurt Gräf, 3./JG 3, in the Kracker list. Victories for 21, 26 and 28/08/1940 are the same except Prien counts one on 21/02 than one on 14/05when Kracker counts two on 14/05/1940.

Most probably the same guy but Kurt or Karl... And nothing about that Gelbe 7 Uberschlag!

Thanks Norbert, I thought it was written "Gräf" but not very sure.

Still, nothing about date, place and WNr. Grrr ....

Best regards, Franck.

An lesson in German:
Bruder --- singular, Brüder --- plural

Greetings

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Hmmm ..

Grrr... I'm not able to use the "Umlaut" anymore since I started to look at Marc's Flickr page with "Adult content" from China!!! :)

I got a bug and here is the result: Br¨¨uder!! I can use only the singular mode!

Thanks Rasmussen for the lesson; however, both form are in the Kracker list (again?? Yes! I like this tool) as family names too.

:) BR, Franck.

PS: or maybe it's because of the coffee drops on my keyboard, last week

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

No ... I mean not an family name but "Bruder" as "brother".

Hi Guys,

@Rasmussen. Yep, I understood with a smiley.

@Don: Thanks .. I haven't JVF 5! Gr...
But thanks a lot anyway.

... ??? Seems that not only Umlaut is kidding with me on that computer ...

So: Anybody to put a scan of that JFV 5, page 492? T.U for the help.

Regards, Franck.

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Hello,

Items 1, 6 & 8 in this listing show the following a/c:

"6 July 1940: 1./JG3 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1 (4051). Crashed on take-off from Grandvilliers (Airfield, France, at) 9.20 a.m. cause unknown. FF Uffz Hermann Marquardt killed. Aircraft 90% damaged - write-off."

Because of the caption info, we now know that this was "White 14." Jochen Prien has provided this additional info, which is consistent with this caption: "the totally wrecked Emil said to have been "white 14" was the a/c of Uffz. Heinz Marquardt of 1./JG 3 who crashed to his death on a training flight on July 6th, 1940, at Grandvillers a/f. Debris of his a/c flying through the air after the impact killed Obgefr. Otto Freudenberg from the ground personal of I./JG 3."

Five of these photos in this grouping were purchased for the "Eagles over Europe" photo data base.

Regards.

Re: eBay: Bf 109s. 15/03/14

Roland,

They were two separate losses during a period of training of new pilots at Grandvilliers. The KTB of I./JG3 and the VDK database both confirm that MARQUARDT died on 6 July 1940 while the earlier crash on 4 July 1940 involved no pilot casualty.
