Re: Mistel photo - eBay
And which model of Ju 88 is it?
There are presently two bids, either a Ju 88H-1 or Ju 88G-10.... Did really the G-10 exist? Cheers Stig |
Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Hi Stig,
First, yes there were production Ju88G-10s. Second, regarding the Mistel in question, unless I am mistaken it is: Mistel S3C consisting of Ju88G-10, WNr. 460046 and 190A-8, WNr. unknown, marked as 1030, both located at Bernburg. Steve Sheflin |

Thanks Steve :)

Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Steve,
Ju88G-10, WNr. 460046 - are you shure about this number because the smalest number from Flugbuchs of Junkers pilots with this version was 460051. |
Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Hello Merlin,
Thank you for your correction. Boy is my face red. Clearly I was operating under an incorrect assumption. On several photos of this Mistel S3C, the numerals “046” are visible in the lower rear quadrant of the fuselage Balkankreuz of the upper Fw190 component. Since most of the Ju88G-10s I have seen feature Werknummern in the 4600XX region, I made the intellectually-lazy jump to these being the last-three of its WNr. In light of your information, could this number instead be a reference to the actual Mistel itself. What do you think, Sir? Steve Sheflin |
Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Steve,
the number at the Fw 190 is the conversion number of this aircraft into a Mistel component. It has had no relation to the production number of the Fw 190 or the Ju 88. For example this Fw 190 "046" was flown on 11.02.45 and 13.02.45 two times on training missions together with the Ju 88G-1 WNr. 714651. |
Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Hello again Merlin,
Thank you for the great information. I will update my files accordingly. Do you have any idea of the meaning of the four white digits "1030" visible on the Fw190 in question? Steve Sheflin |
Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Steve,
these are the last four of the Werknummer: Fw 190A-8 WNr. 731030. |
Re: Mistel photo - eBay
Thanks Merlin,
I appreciate your confirming my belief. Steve Sheflin |
