A very original camouflaged Me 262 of KG (J) 54
Hi there Gang,
Thanks to Snautzer, here are some links to a very original KG (J) 54 Me 262 shot down in April 1945, photographed by James Giannopoulis: http://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth437340/ http://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/675...th436589/m1/1/ http://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/675...th437130/m1/1/ Any informations about this particular machine ? Cheers Marc |
Re: A very original camouflaged Me 262 of KG (J) 54
From the amount of dirt on the wings, I would guess a bomb or artillery shell landed close to it causing the damage.

Looks like "B3"+?? can be seen in the second link.

It probably makes sense to consider these photos together rather than in separate threads. Many will have been taken at the same locations(s) for example.
P.S. Thanks to the members who have brought these pictures to everyone's attention. |
Re: wreck coded ??+W5
Is that a Dewoitine D.520?
|
Re: Texas History Photo Collection
ok as they said.. never mind If i would have liked them in separated threads as i did put it. Learning all the time....

Re: Texas History Photo Collection

Hello Snautzer,
First, thank you for posting these interesting photos. Regarding your Ju87 photos #4 and #6, CEA266 lists this aircraft as: Ju87D-3, WNr. 131031, CE+VE, SG10, Metz-Frescaty, France. Steve Sheflin |

if not a D.520 what would you say it is? The later link seems to confirm that it is a 520: V-engine vs inverted engine, landing gear, and small swoop shape leading into the vertical fin. |
Re: Texas History Photo Collection
John,
I'm not 100% sure, but it could well be one of the few Arsenal VG 33 built. Cheers Marc |

Re: Texas History Photo Collection
Hello,
The Ju88 looks like it could be from an old Battle of Britain acquisition following a FL there in 1940. Full code doesn't seem to be readable. Can anyone determine where this a/c may have come from and when? |
Re: Texas History Photo Collection
A Me 262 I havn't seen before. Thank you Karl for the info and Marc for posting it.

Re: Texas History Photo Collection
Hi Dénes,
this is either Hs 129 PH+UC (Werknr. unknown) or PH+UQ (Werknr. 141407). Both were found by american troops at unknown locations (one source says Wiesbaden, another München). Many photos of them exist, and up to now I thought they all show the same plane, namely PH+UQ. But on closer scrutiny it seems that's not the case and PH+UC also survived the war and was also captured. Can someone shed any light on this? |
