Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Hello Snautzer,
Thanks for finding these photo jewels. I know it is not easy. Unless I am mistaken, this is Ju87G-2 (494xxx) SO+FN, V8+KH, surrendered at Eschweg. Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Neat picture, Michiel.
Steve, what unit is V8 ? I can't find it... Cheers Marc |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Hi all,
V8 is the code for Nachtschlachtgruppe 1. @Steve: Is "V8" confirmed for the Eschwege birds? I am trying to decypher their unit code from photos for ages... |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Danke Christian !

Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Hello Christian,
Straight-up answer, I don't know where I obtained the "V8+" data. Further, in looking at all of my photos again, I also don't see the codes on the aircraft at Eschweg. I do remember, however, corresponding with Jim Crow several years ago and his mentioning that he had views which faintly showed the unit codes. I will contact Jim and see if he can help clear up this conundrum. Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Thanks Steve, that would be great! Up to now I did always put those Eschwege Stukas in the SG 2-corner (why I don't know, must be the general appearance)..

Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Nick and Christian,
Thank you both for your corrections. I must have had some bogus data and stupidly extrapolated from it. My files will be corrected immediately. Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Hello,
I think this plane was used by the SG2. Look the two diagonal white lines on the rudder. These lines was painted on the rudders of the planes surrendered at kitzigen. Ju-87 G-2 WNr. 494110 <-+- Stab/SG2 Hans-Ulrich Rudel for example. Best regards, Lumabe. |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Good spot, lumabe !

Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
I pulled this pic off the internet years ago. Not sure if it is the same aircraft or not, but both aircraft are letter "K" and there is a fire extinguisher to the right of the aircraft.

Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
1 Attachment(s)
The code was +KU with the U letter overpainted.
Attachment 11413 The factory code was SO+FN for the Ju-87 G-2 t6+KU And The factory code was KT+RJ for the Ju-87 G-2 t6+FU t6 SG2 code was invisible for the both aircrafts. I didn't see the U letter for FU. Maybe it was very overpainted. Best regards, Lumabe. |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
At least one Ju 87 G-2 of 10.(Pz.)/SG 2 landed in Eschwege on 08.05.1945.
Crew was FF Lt. Anton Korol, BS Karl Forssbohm and an unknown passenger. There is a recommendable article (16 pages) about the last month of "Gefechtsverband Rudel" in the German Jet & Pop magazine 3/2014 an 4/2014. Hope this helps. Heuser |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Danke, Heuser, I did not know the name of Korol's Bordschütz that day.
There are a number of photos of this machine around, some taken on a beautiful, sunny day. A photo of the Korol crew surrendering shows an absence of Einheitskennung ahead of the cross. The lack of flying clothes on the third man makes me wonder if he was their mechanic. GRM |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
Thanks to you all for the additional info! GRM, would it be possible to post this photo you mentioned (or the particular detail of it), showing the absence of the unit code?
Cheers, Christian |
Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.
I do not know / cannot embed photos as I do not have a photo-hosting service, but if you send me a PM with your email, I'll send it along.
