Thanks for the pointer, michiel.

The same seller offers some nice WNF factory photos showing the construction of Bf 109 G's sometimes in 1943.

Ja...these are all known photos...the originals were all sold on eBay last year.

here is some of the rest of the set:

The He219 appears to have exhaust dampers. NASM one does not. Also, given the tail plane is not on the aircraft in the picture as it is being loaded, confirms why discussions about Wrk Nr. erupted since a tail number may not match the plate in the tail section.

obviously...

as I said, all the originals of these photos the seller is offering were sold on ebay over a year ago, and the He219 pic was part of that group, as well as the helicopters. This is from a large lot of photo taken of these aircraft as they were being boarded onto the HMS Reaper. I only managed to get a few of them, which I posted above.

These are all known photos, and are 8x10 prints from the originals.

All the Me262 images were already published in a book...so why some of these prices are getting insane for copies is pretty insane.

Dear Harrison,

I don't recognize seeing them in print before. Can you specify the book they can be found in?

Regards,
Richard

It came out 2 weeks ago. It is about the Flying Heritage Collections aircraft, including their Me262, and the history behind it. Though I have not seen the book, the Reaper pics were supplied for it.

Re: captured He219 on ship

Dear Harrison,

The only book listed on Amazon is:

Flying Warbirds: An Illustrated Profile of the Flying Heritage Collection's Rare WWII-Era Aircraft

However, this came out supposedly in Nov. 2014. Is this the one or is it a newer book. Can anyone help?

Regards,
Richard

mmmmmmmmmm...that may be the release date, but it supposedly came out the same day as the Jumo 004 engine test run they posted on facebook.

Re: captured He219 on ship

Dear Mike,

I went to the FHC's website thinking they might have a "shop" where they sell stuff, but found none.

The description of the book on Amazon sounds too general for there to be any focus on Cherbourg. There's not a lot of sense in buying a book that doesn't have in it what I seek.

Can you or anyone else confirm this is the correct book or, if not, the name of the correct book and where I can buy it?

Regards,
Richard

Richard

It has been out for a few months. I have it at home and it has current photos of the restoration of White 25, but I don't recall any period photos. I will check this evening and confirm..

A couple of well known post war shots of the FHC aircraft and one of a derelict 262 being inspected by GIs taken in Germany.

Re: captured He219 on ship

Dear Dave,

Thanks for the feedback. This doesn't sound like a book that will add anything for me regarding either the Cherbourg HMS Reaper loading or the FHC Me 262 restoration project. Too bad.

It sounds like Mike Harrison must have been referring to a more recently published book. Mike???

Regards,
Richard

Re: captured He219 on ship

Dear Richard,

I'd also be interested to know from Mike in which book these photos were published. It may be possible to get scans from the author.

Kind regards,

Roger
