Re: Unknown Crashsite
Graz is a city in Austria with a airport used by training units in the war.
I passed it 4 times this year visiting family in Slovenia. |
Re: Unknown Crashsite

Re: Unknown Crashsite

Re: Unknown Crashsite
Thanks Hans
for your information. Do you have a free foto version of the landed Ju 52 in the Austrian Alps? I tried to find the crashsite around Graz and close Alps, but negative. Best dnalorhttp://forum.12oclockhigh.net/images/icons/icon7.gif |

Re: Unknown Crashsite
This is great,
thx for publishing the fotos on the Forum. Perhaps we get decisive hints re the crashsite itself. Best dnalor |
Re: Unknown Crashsite
Would it be this one ?
http://www.museumspartner.com/en/all...-glaciers.html The place mentionned is "Umbalkees" in the eastern Tyrol, does it match ? GC |
Re: Unknown Crashsite
Dear Gilles,
you much know about the Ju 52 in Eastern Tyrol, where I live. Sorry to say, the Ju on Forum foto is definetly not that one from Umbal glacier !! I have some sumer taken mountain fotos from Styria/Austria which are resembling to the background on Forum foto. But they do not really match and coincide with mountain peaks on Forum Foto. So we go on looking for the area, which would fit per 100 percent. Thx for engagement. Each reply is welcome Best dnalor |
Re: Unknown Crashsite
As per crash report in the GQM files:
The aircraft had to make an emergency landing due to iced up wings on 28.03.42 at the Hohe Tatra in Slowakia. The accident was only documented by a unit from Graz. |
Re: Unknown Crashsite
HI Merlin,
this seems to be another top message, aiming at another region, Hohe Tatra. I will try to find someone there who can confirm the mountain scenery. Anyway a great turn in our research. I am interested in the GQM files. Are they free, where to get them? Thx for effort, perhaps we receive a refering recent foto one day. Best dnalor |

Re: Unknown Crashsite
Seems it had not been recovered, no traces later...these birds of the Ln-Rgt were probably precious, so seems landing had been pretty hard, a piece of luck there for the crew...
Aside of this case, Wonder if anybody has spurs of the Wn 3915, because the next in the row NR+AG was Wn 3916. ... Rémi |

Re: Unknown Crashsite
You are right,Nick, so many Wn are missing there, Wonder if the 59xx Wn series has not been built before mid-39, the STKZ would hv been in that case given at the unit level , the Ln-Rgt, in fact quite all of the NR+A , prior 1942, has link with Ln/Rgt -KGr.100 , same for NN+O , NQ+A, TA+B
