153 Wing RAF 1942
Hi guys
It was the one-time intention to send a newly-formed 153 Wing to aid Russia in mid-1942. I understand that it was to comprise four squadrons of Spitfires and two Hurricane ground-attack squadrons. Do we know which squadrons had be considered/allocated? Cheers Brian |

Brian
For full chapter and verse can I refer you to Blood Sweat and Courage by Steve Brew (41 squadron 1939 - 1942) - Chapter 9 Deployment to Russia 15 June - 31 July 1942 - which will tell you all you need to know about what transpired, the squadrons involved, and why they didn't go to Russia. cheers Allan |
Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Thanks Alan
Unfortunately I don't have a copy! Cheers Brian |
Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Oh Brian... :-)
Thanks Allan. Brian, drop me an e-mail at brewATclientsDOTch and I'll send you some info (I need to e-mail on account of attachments). Steve |
Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Brian - what an admission - this is sad news, not owning a copy - you need both Blood Sweat and Courage (1939 - 1942) and Blood Sweat and Valour (1942 - 1945), both by Steve, which covers off the whole war period for 41 Squadron.
Available at all good book shops as they say - plus Amazon etc. etc. From Fonthill Media. cheers Allan |

Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Hi guys
I am poor! Oh! Woe is me! Cheers Brian |
Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Brian
I doubt it :-) However, as it is the season of goodwill to all men (and women of course) I will have to take the word of an established author about it, or it casts doubts on the accuracy of your books :-) If you haven't put them on your Christmas list I suggest you do so now as a matter of urgency, and let your less poor relations buy them for you :-) cheers Allan p.s. from somebody who owns them both !! (lucky me :-) !) |

If someone is poor so I should start thinking about how this out of poverty, rather than proclaim to all and sundry that it is poor! Poverty is not no disgrace. It is a disgrace ordinary human laziness (and intellectual) and passive expectation that the merciful God will deliver someone out of poverty with the help of the miracle (lightning?). As the Lord said (free translate), "he who gives a shit life is and shit in your life will get". Amen, :-). There are no miracles only the path of our the Lord. Amen, :-) mw |

All right everyone, let's cool the rhetoric.
The thread is about 153 wing, not personal finances or life styles! |
Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Hi guys
One last parting shot, aimed at Allan: If you had all of my books on your shelf perhaps I would not be so poor!! I have over 1,000 WW2 aviation books on my shelves, only 30 of which are my own! Steve Brew has kindly agreed to advise me of the situation regarding 153 Wing. All in jest, John Cheers Brian |

I do not see in this post any kind info concerning 153. Wing? Sorry, mayby I can not undrestand English? As the Lord said, those who had more'll have more, and those who shit they will have a better/more shit. This is a very free translation of the words of The Lord, but very adequate for what here we enter. Believe me, John, The Lord sees everything, Amen, :-) Believe in the Lord!, :-) Total Amen, :-) |

Hi Mirek

Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Hello Brian
I have a few of your books on my shelves - Diver! Diver! Diver! is one that immediately springs to mind, and that is really very good (not that the others aren't of course!), and good value for money as well. Glad to read that Steve is helping you out - I sent him an e-mail after my first reply to you to bring the matter to his attention as he is the other side of the world, and on another time zone. I love that subtle plug "only 30 of which are my own!" - and we now all know that BSC and BSV are not amongst the other 1,000 :-) I hope Mirek now has a better understanding of english humour - and I wish you, and Mirek, Steve, Stephen, John and any other contributors to this post a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (even if I am a week early!!). cheers Allan |

Yes, you're right, Brian, I can not completely understand the poor people who shout to the whole world that are poor and absolutely nothing do to with this state of great poverty to try out. For me it is completely incomprehensible behavior? Even very rich people with, for example, in 1000 and more books are screaming about their poverty! Apparently they like to look at themselves that they are very poor? I'm not going to disturb them in this, so let it be poor. These are really poor people, there is nothing further to say. A sense of humor English or Polish is not irrelevant here. regards, mw |
