On stammkennzeichen.de is the only Bf 109 G-6 bloc listed with .I+N. the bloc
SI+NA to SI+NZ, but no WNr's given.

Between Bf109G-6 WNr 15905 and WNr 15930 is a gap of a complete StKz block. With all caution and given that the SI+N? bock is correct, WNr 15909 might be SI+NE.

Btw, I don't have found a photo where .I+N. is visible. Max, can you show us the photo or name the source?
On the following photos of the WNr 15909 is nothing visible. Just a vertical bar as part of the 4th letter of the SKZ under the wing.

But that is the first letter of the SKZ. So if we think the last letter is an "I" we have to look for a "N.+.I" and not ".I+N." And that range is to big.

In the Barkhorn book on page 125 is a photo of Heinrich Sturm's G-6, early 1944. There are SKZ letters visible: "N.+SC", but I don't know a WNr. of his G-6. But possible the same WNr./SKZ area.

.....

And from B.Barbas book "Gerhard Barkhorn, Das Vergessene As ...
It's clearly I under other wing. Hence "N?+?I". Extract.

I have SN+N? as WNr 160393 to 160418. Source Peter Schmoll: Die Messerschmitt-Werke im Zweiten Weltkrieg. According to the same source the last letter of the StKz ought to be an E.
Bf109G-6 WNr 161380 NP+SC was manufactured in February 1944.

Schmol is not a very accurate source for the manufacture date, planes hv already been lost mid-january..
Manufacture of those planes 1604xx take place in sept.43, 161380, transit to West-Front on Jan. 44

Re: ME-109G6 W.nr.15909 GERHARD BARKHORN INFO

Any chance there is a clear photograph of Barkhorn aircraft insignia for JG-52 that could be posted ...

Would greatly appreciate confirmation on Barkhorn's aircraft insignia for a project I am working on ... this would be an insignia when Barkhorn was assigned to JG-52 specifically for this project.

Thank you

Ray S.
