Re: Photos 4-12
The first Bf 109 is Priller's Yellow 1. Note the yellow wing tips and the position of the underwing Balkenkreuz.

Re: Photos 4-12
Hi.
The first 190 was a D-9 damaged 30% at Varelbusch on March 10 1945. Guess it was found abandoned there and photographed. Unit was IV./J.G.6. Regards, Andreas |
Re: Photos 4-12
Any idea about the unit from this one?

Re: Photos 4-12
Doesn't the Me109E in the battle of Britain museum have the same unit logo under the cockpit? Some sort of goat looking backwards.

Re: Photos 4-12
That would normally be the TO aircraft for I./JG 51.
Don |
Re: Photos 4-12
Correct. The I./JG 51 emblem depicts a chamois standing on a mountain top and looking backwards.

Re: Photos 4-12
Thanks all, i was only looking on the nose and doing so i was unable to see the "chamois" under the cockpit! :)

Re: Photos 4-12
Hello,
Was the photo numbered 6621458415 (in Ed's second entery in this thread) taken in London ? Reason for question is that there is the front end of a simularly camoflaged Spitfire next in the line up and wing tip of another British fighter on the 109's right. While in the distance what looks like Nelsons Columb. Anyone ? Alex |
