Re: Captured Me 410 Junker Most useful as I have a photo of 3U+EW taken at Vaernes |

Re: Captured Me 410 Now I am confused....was 420430 initially 3U+AK of 2./ZG 26 and then later with 3.(F)/122? How do we know that 420430 was 3U+AK which could mean that it was the a/c of the Staffelkapitän? Cheers, John |

Re: Captured Me 410 Chris, Me 410 A-3, 10250, F6+OK, 2/122, 26 Nov 43 Monte Corvino, Ofw Artur Kammberger/Uffz Vitus Mirlach POW - there might be something on this aircraft on the old LEMB, where it was stated: "Me 410 A-3, WNr.10259, F6+OK, 2(F)/AufklGr122 which landed intact and was captured at Monte Corvino in Italy (all via LEMB)" here http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...?showtopic=608 Regards, Sinisa |

Re: Captured Me 410 Chris, The Me 410 landed on Montecorvino a/f at 0915 hours the 27th November, with both crew captured. At a preliminary stage we (MAW team) have it as being from 2(F)/122 WNr 10259 codes 5N + HR. See 73 Sqn History by Don Minterne Vol 3 p13. for a story on what happened. Regards Russell |

Re: Captured Me 410 Russell, just out of interest - where is this 5N+HR code coming from for this aircraft? |
|
Re: Captured Me 410 The Stkz of this aircraft was SN+HR. Typo? Regards, Norbert |
|
Re: Captured Me 410 Or was it SN+HH? Not so certain anymore.... Regards, Norbert |

Re: Captured Me 410 There seems to be some confusion. I have: WNr 10253, Me 410, SN+HB, F6 +QK, 2.(F)/122, Ff Ofw Arthur Kammberger POW, Bf Uffz Vitus Mirlbach POW, 11 Nov 1943 emergency landing after being shot down by fighters during recce area Foggia-Bari-Termoli in riverbed of river Sangro. WNr 10259, Me 410A-3, SN+HH, F6+OK, 2.(F)/122, Ff Fw Hans Beyer POW, Bf Uffz Helmut Hein POW, 27 Nov 1943 emergency landing after becoming disorientated and due to fuel exhaustion during recce area Naples, Montecorvino a/f F6+QK has been photographed lying on its belly in the pebbles of river Sangro. StKz SN+HB might not have been overpainted on the wings lower surfaces and difficult to read. A rather angular stencil for letter "S" and you get the above-mentioned "code" 5N+HR additional to F6+QK. SN+HR was heavily damaged 30 Dec 1943 at Epinoy a/f. Regards RolandF |
