A triangle on the Ju 52....

Hello,

I have tried to figure this out and searched in numerous book and the internet, but I cannot find anything about this unit!
Does anyone in here knows what this triangle on the Ju 52 means?
Unfortunately there is no text on the back of the picture.
Thank you in advance,

Christian

Consensus was that the triangle marking indicated a towing a/c, target or glider.

Sorry, forgot the site is closed down.

On LEMB by member Merlin:
All these planes with the triangle belonged to Transportstaffel IV./Fliegerkorps. The unit was led by Hptm. Paul Mayer from 1940 until early 1941. The Staffel absorbed many transport planes from subordinated units during the summer of 1940. All their planes were operated with Stammkennzeichen or the former unit code (the last letter always had a white border) in combination with the white triangle. The unit code G8+ was introduced first in December 1942.

Thank you VERY much for your help!!!!
When looking carefully at my photo, it seems to me I can see a letter B or a number 8 on the fuselage band.

Would the same be true for triangles on the vertical tail?

Regarding the Dreieck on fins of Ju 52s, it seems far more prevalent on the machines of the KGr.z.b.V. 102 (this unit - among others - used 'G6' but with II Gruppen Staffel indicators, N, P, R, S), at least for the time period from Unternehmen Merkur (May 1941) through Stalingrad (Feb. 1943).

Re: A triangle on the Ju 52....

Thank you, GRM. I have see the fin triangle as an outline only, in a single color or in a single color with a white outline. The point of the triangle was usually pointed up, but I recall a few pointing to the back.
