JG2 losses 28.08.1942

Can anyone tell me the losses from this unit on that date. I am especially interested in Fw190s lost in combat around Amiens and Albert.

regards

Keith

Can confirm Buller was killed in a forced-landing on a non-combat mission at Mincampoix. Baudach was shot down in combat with Spitfires and baled out

"Mincampoix" is Quincampoix NE from Rouen/F

Hello Mr. Goss and all - who is the victor in this combat - I know just claim for Fw 190 and not Bf109?

Thanks

Faenor

Agreed-I have 2 destroyed, 4 probably destroyed and 3 damaged by 401 and 611 Sqns so perhaps a case of misidentification

Hi Mr. Goss,

from Circus 210 I have 1-4-1 score but without any name - again, its from Tony Wood compilation list. Can you please share with be the name of pilots - again, its in my current area of interesting - escort for US bombers during 1942.

For this date, I have another victory for RAF pilots - W/C. K. Mrazek (Czechoslovak Fighter Wing) and S/L. F. Dolezal (310.SQ) for this Bf 109

Re: JG2 losses 28.08.1942

I am a bit confused about the losses on this date. According to JG26 WAR DIARY the Bf109G-1 of Baudach (11(H)/JG2) was shot down by 611 Sqn but Crawford-Compton claimed a Fw190. I am not sure that Compton claimed two on this date. My sources indicate a single Fw190 on that date, and I have yet to identify the pilots (other than Compton) who claimed the "probable".

The 611 Sqn claims board does not show this victory and shows just one Fw190 claim see (http://www.611squadronrauxaf.co.uk/h...batclaims.html). I realise that this source is not without errors (Compton is shown as claiming a "damaged" while flying for the squadron in the Spring of 1943, after leaving 64 Squadron - although it is possible, he was joining various squadrons to "guest" on operations and made at least one claim with 122 Sqn).

401 Squadron claims 0-3-3 Fw190 against JG26 which suffered no losses but shoT down a 401 Sqn Spitfire IX so.... as pointed out earlier in this discussion the only FW190 lost by JG2 was an air accident...could JG1 or another unit have been involved?

The Czech claim is not Baudach. I believe he was shot down attacking B-17 in the afternoon, the Czech pilot make their kill at 0930.

Keith

Thew Czech claim was not over France but a recce machine off UK but after nearly 78 years, put this all down to the fog of war
