Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Hello
I have his second claim (11/07/43) and his fifth (08/02/44). And his third,fourth....when is it? Michel |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Hi Michel
Thats wrong. 1 26.03.43 LaGG-3 2 05.01.44 B-17 3 08.02.44 P-51 4 24.02.44 B-24 5+6 22.04.44 P-47 best wishes JoMe |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
What are your sources, this is not all the information that I have.
11/07/43=Typhoon (perhaps 198°Sqd) 05/01/44:with who? JG/26? 08/02/44=P-47(not a P-51) with JG/26 24/02/44=B-17HSS (not a B-24) and not approved Perhaps a B-17 on 31/12/43 with 2/JGr West,and perhaps also another claim with JGr West (Bergerac)..hence my question. Regards Michel |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
11 Jul 43 was EJ966 of 198 Sqn as I have a photo of Ellenrieder after the combat

Hi Michel
The source was his flight log. best wishes JoMe |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Michel
Ellenrieder's first claim against the LaGG-3 dated 26.3.1943 is listed by Don Caldwell in his JG 26 book vol 2. It is not known if that claim was accepted or not, most likely it was not, since it is not in the microfilms (Johannes does not mention it for example) JoMe It is very strange that the Typhoon claim 11.7.1943 is not in his flight log. It is listed everywhere and surely must be stated as suck on the microfilms as well. Even worse is that there is no claim listed for him on 5.4.1944 what so ever. Your other dates fit what has been published even if my sources disagree if the B-24 actually was that or a B-17. He did not get any official credit for his claim anyway. Cheers Stig |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Hi
In his flight look I find an entry for 11. July 1943 Mission: Railroad monitoring with no comments On 14.07.43 the entry was: 1 Taifun (Typhoon) effectively shooting At 05.04.44 there is no entry in his flight log. best wishes JoMe |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Strange. The photo I have of him was taken at Lille Vendeville, the Typhoon on 14 Jul 43 was shot down Bf a Bf 109, no Typhoons lost on 14 Jul 43....

What I was supposed to write was 5.1.1944 as listed in post 2.... Sorry about that Cheers Stig |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
One question. On 11 July 1943, 198 Sqn stated they were attacked by Bf 109s-ws Ellenrieder flying a 109 or 190?

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Hi Chris
On this day his airplane was a Fw 190, WNr. 7301, 12 +. best wishes JoMe |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Obvious aircraft recognition error by the Typhoon pilots! Thanks

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
What did Ellenrieder did after WWII? When he was born? When did he passed away?

It doesn't look like he even flew on 11-Jul-43.

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Even more strange Jim
From where does his claim come from? Are the microfilms wrong or is the claimer mis-identified/hard to interpret in there? Also from what log book is JoMe reading from? Cheers Stig |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Prien/Bock in Jagdfliegerverbande Vol.10 #IV lists the 11-Jul claim, as does Caldwell in Vol.2 of his JG26 War Diary. Ellenrieder was with 8./JG26 from 6-Jun-43 until 13-Aug-43 (flts #1199 to 1301). All the flights are listed in the FB, and I can't find any supplemental/later additions to the FB which does sometimes occur. Also there is no summary list of claims which some pilots will add onto the end of their FB. I second your question. Where does this claim come from?

Hi
Here's my log Flight No. 1259-1270 are missing. best wishes JoMe |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Ah, I'm missing that 2nd page. The flight numbers are continuous (#1235-1258) in my copy, but your #1247 - #1258 entries are different than in mine. I noted the gap in the dates and missing page, but in my copy they appeared to be later, so didn't make much of it in this instance. Looks like my #1247 - #1258 in mine are the misnumbered flights #1259 - #1270. Definitely confusing!! Thanks for clearing that up! (I wonder if my paper copy has that page?)

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Very confusing indeed!
Can someone explain how this is possible? Cheers Stig |

Hi,
here the page 1 of 11/07/1943 from claim list of the OKL. See Lfd.Nr. 6. Is it possible to check the logbook on takeoff or landing at airfield Kirchhellen? I would be very interested to know if Ellenrieder was there in the fall of 1944. Best regards Matthias |
Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)
Well, at least that source looks conclusive enough....
Cheers Stig |
