Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Just found this photo-anyone have any ideas who the 2 on the right are? The one far right is VERY familiar. What is in the background is also interesting

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
He219. We just brought the He219 onto the museum floor at the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy museum, though still need the props, control surfaces, engine panels, and the radar dipoles to add.

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Thanks Tony but I was aware it was a 219 just wanted people to see it lurking in the background

Hello Chris, who do you think it is then? Now I am curious. Could it be Günther Radusch? Regards, Timon |

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Having just written about Lützow, I would say no. Looks like I have a bit of digging to do as the face is familiar but I cannot place it for certain

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Hello,
(Right) Major Werner Hoffmann RK, DKG ? Col. |
Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
I would say yes, based on picture in RK of the Luftwaffe by Obermaier.

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Hello,
I used the following as a reference for Werner Hoffmann: Hunters Of The Reich - Vol.I - Night Fighters. Williams,David P. Stroud:Tempus Publishing,2001. pp.89-124 (Chapter 3 - Major Werner Hoffmann) & 210-211. Includes a few new photographs of Hoffman (not the usual one, that is used over and over in various publications). Col. |
Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Looks a likely candidate. DKiG, wound badge and RK
|
Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Hoffmann had no Night Fighter Clasp with Pendant.

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
It's definitely not Werner Hoffmann, could it be Oberleutnant Wilhelm Beier?
|
Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
From what I can see, he was not commissioned, no DKiG or wound badge. Perhaps the He 219 is a coincidence-how about Maj Karl-Hermann Millahn?

Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Looks likely & I now think the chap in the centre is Hallensleben
|
Re: Any Ideas of the RK holders?
Hi Chris,
You're right. Although Beier was commissioned, ending the war as Oberleutnant, I can't find any evidence that he was awarded the German Cross in Gold or received a Wound badge, as worn by the chap on the right, who is either an Oberleutnant or Hauptmann. |
